It is an interesting article which covers Vietnam or Malaysia, but I wonder why he included Korea and Hong Kong under SE Asia.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I have one made from this book. It is not the cloth that keep sharp pleats but quite comfortable. I just made trousers so am now thinking of a jacked made. Only problem is that the cloth price has gone up a lot.

Your posture look quite different from a picture to another. The first picture fitting looks better than the second. Did you get measured posing like 1st? Your shoulders looked more dropped and placed forward on the second one.

    The Hong Kong Tailors Thread

For anybody before making any recommendation or referral, it would be helpful to know your expectation level. Sending your shirt can make a good enough copy in general (no disaster) in terms of fit, but they are not necessary exact copy. Key measurements will be the same but adjustment for...

Japanese Shoes: Bespoke & RTW Super Thread

I am not sure of the naming, as there was just one type when I ordered. It looks like this from the top.

I have not seen cordovan one by him yet. Horween, Shinki and new British one should be available locally, so he may do it.

Yes that is the same Kanda. Kanda is fairy big and each area has its specialty. You input a word "神田 羅紗" in Yahoo Japan and you can find more textile company but most are for trades only. The one I quoted is open to retail too. Nippori is more like for small hand craft. Have you heard of...

Japanese Shoes: Bespoke & RTW Super Thread

You can actually order from Hobu_leather_port if you are not in China. You can communicate in Chinese, Japanese and English. I ordered a pair when they were introduced in Japan in 2017. (Yim did not have IG then). Price is slightly cheaper via Hobu now but will be globally the same in near...

Japanese Shoes: Bespoke & RTW Super Thread

Kanda is the area of textile trade. One of the shop website is shown below. At least they can accommodate retail. Most of them are for trades. I have to tell European brand cloths are not cheap in Japan. There are Japanese wool mill too so it may make more sense if you find something you...

    The Hong Kong Tailors Thread

As far as I know there is no foreigner price and local price at a reputable shop and there is no sales tax in Hong Kong so domestic price and export price are equal. I did not mean to provide a material for negotiation with tailors. I simply stated it is in a range in Hong Kong. If they know...

    The Hong Kong Tailors Thread

@BernieL , as @shirtingfantasy above mentioned, it is a pricing model common in Hong Kong and probably in Japan too. It may serve better to generate more profit rather than having higher charges on CMT (basic cloth). I understand that more expensive cloth is sometimes more difficult to deal...

    The Hong Kong Tailors Thread

Walk in price of Crispair in Hong Kong was about USD 110 per meter about 2 years ago. Tailors get at USD 80 may be. 2 - 2.5 m for the jacket so it is about 3-4 X mark up? 4X may be too much for Hong Kong, but 3X is probably within the range here.

I think it depends on weight and type. Dressy one or casual one etc. Testa should have it. I guess Canclini or Albiate (Albini brand) should have those too.

I like the shade of this whisky. Not too light and easier to pair in winter time.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

They decided demand curve is very price inelastic. I speculate trade price (real volume range) not increased as much as retail or web price (which accounts for small portion of their business). I guess it is good for some tailors/garment makers as they can sell their final products at higher...

@kolecho was running re-issue of old spec mid grey Minnis flannel. Dakota book's cavalry twill is nice and drapes well but not so warm. I like whipcord from Dormeiul's natural series, which is more sturdier.
