How do you prevent seatbelt chaffing?

I often wear a scarf when I drive. The ends keep the belt from touching my shirt or jumper.

Question about boots - which color to get.

Members of this forum won't in general be too impressed with either of those boots, not least because of the square (and to my mind almost Arabian Nights-like upturned) noses. Here's a link to a great thread about RM Williams boots http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=21179 . These would...

Tail length of Brooks Brothers shirts?

Hi all I'm thinking of buying a few 16/36 slim fit Brooks Brothers shirts but as a UK resident I have no idea about the length. For comparison, most of my shirts are TM Lewin, which are just about OK in terms of the tail length -- about 33.5", measured at the back from the bottom of the...

    Info for tall people

Just for information, as another tall freak (almost 6'7") I wear a 36" sleeve length for shirts but that corresponds to a 27" shoulder seam to cuff length on sport coats/jackets. This is with a bit of cuff showing.

    Tie with denim jeans

FWIW I fully agree. It may be that the lighting in the photo leaves something to be desired but it looks as though more contrast between jacket and jeans colour is desirable. I've only started to wear pocketsquares recently myself but this seems like sound advice too. To my mind a pocketsquare...

    Tie with denim jeans

I don't think this combo -- or any jeans and tie combo -- is a good idea. Don't want to sound harsh but I don't like your tie knot either, too big and kind of shapeless.

Who dresses better: Europeans or Americans?

There have been a few negative comments here about men in Eastern Europe. As someone who travels there very regularly I would agree. But interestingly the women there are often pretty stylish, at least in the big cities.

    Honest Opinion

This may just be the photo but for my taste the pants are perhaps a tad too baggy (especially obvious on your left leg).

So I bought a scarf.. Now how do I wear it?

I use what is called European Casual on this website (aka Chelsea): http://www.theflyingshuttle.com/weyosc.html. It's simple and warm. In terms of combining the scarf with coats/jackets of different levels of formality, in general I'd also say there's no coat/jacket that doesn't go with a scarf...

    What color pocket square?

My tuppence: agree. It should def be something darker. Also while I don't have a huge problem with loafers and suits (not uncontroversial) the stitching on this particular model would make it rather too casual for my liking.

Does your style attract or repel women?

As you say, most of them don't know very much about men's clothes. I actually think they're OK when it comes to the very casual and trendy end of the spectrum (well fitting jeans, cool t-shirts, some accessories -- take a girl shopping with you for those and you'll come home with some pretty...

    What color pocket square?

FWIW I'd say (a not too dark shade of) blue would look good as well -- not necessarily (or even preferably) matching any of the blues in your shirt/tie. A white/blue combo would probably also work, see e.g. the following pocketsquare from Kent Wang (a member of this forum): I'd say you're right...

A silly question on shoes with leather bottom

I once read somewhere that lightly scoring leather soles with a very sharp knife helps make them less slippery. Could be complete bollocks though -- have never tried it.

Can you help me match this vest with a shirt?

I'd say any of the 3 colours of the checks would be a good start, but not the main colour (what you describe as grass green). Light brown may work as well. And since the top is a bit busy, I'd go for a solid shirt.

How to wear a day cravat?

am actually not a Brit but do enjoy living in this great eccentric country. I wouldn't wear a cravat to a formal occasion but just think they may be an accessory to have some fun with at certain parties. For a while I've had a checked scarf that is very functional but when worn looks like a...

How to wear a day cravat?

I've always liked the look of cravats and have recently picked up a few very nice vintage numbers. I have a casual party tonight and would now like to wear one. I've seen different ways of tying them, and different ways of wearing them. Would I be right in thinking that the most "classical" way...

    the perfect gift

To me, something that I'd wear (e.g. scarf, cufflinks, etc.) rather than use (e.g. pen) would be better coming from a partner, as it's more directly linked with the way I look. A pen would be great coming from a friend, if that makes any sense. Chas's idea of an appointment with a shirtmaker...

    My shoe choice

I'm in much less of a position to comment than almost everyone else on this forum but although I wouldn't buy them, I do like the DocMartens a lot more than the original ones you posted. The quality will probably be better too. I'll tell you something about my own experience with SF -- you can...

    Burberry trench coat sizing

Thanks guys, try one on I will then. Unfortunately I'm in the wild North West not London, but I've just found out that there's a store in Manchester
