What to do about my overly square shoulders

What to do about my overly square shoulders

Is it even possible to square the shoulders on a jacket?

What to do about my overly square shoulders

Here's the problem, I have crazy square shoulders… no squarer than you're imagining right now… nope squarer still… envision classic RoboCop… that kinda square. As a result, every off the rack jacket is basically unwearable. If I do up the button the shoulders jack way up off mine, the collar...

Long Winded: Where in West Toronto, Mississauga, or Brampton can I *try on* proper leather slip on l

Budget depends on the shoe, casual vs dress, welted or not, the type of leather, and of course how sexy it is ;) The availability is more of an issue than the price though. AE has lots of options, and the prices aren't bad when they're on sale… but I still can't try most of them on, and then if...

Long Winded: Where in West Toronto, Mississauga, or Brampton can I *try on* proper leather slip on l

I moved out here last March and I'm having a heck of a time finding places that sell my size of shoes which I can try on in person without ordering them. I guess Albertans just have bigger feet. I live by 427 and Rathburn and don't really want to drive an hour, I might as well go on-line...

Is the secret to a better cheap shirt collar roll… *gasp*… starch?

I kind of don't wonder about that myself… back in the old days people were thrifty and they starched. I just can't imagine my grandmother who's 94 and learned to run her household in the great depression having ever starched any of my grandpa's work shirts if it reduced the service life. My...

Braces and a belt worn together for a security or private investigator type?

Yeah, I don't think anybody is going to find anything wrong with suspenders and a belt in those situations at all. If you keep your jacket on no one will even know. I've certainly seen plenty of guys in VIP details doing exactly that before, usually with 2.5" nylon suspenders that have clamps...

Is the secret to a better cheap shirt collar roll… *gasp*… starch?

Before you sound off about how starch ruins shirts, I know that, hear me out. I know starch is "bad". I'm not talking about starching my custom shirts here, they come with the collars made properly in the first place and they already look right. What I mean is typical OTR shirts. The sort I...

    The truth about starch

Oh I just have to resurrect this, just because the 6th post said 4+ years was long. This thread is now 3685 days old, just over 10 years. The 6th post was made… 2152 days ago… almost 6 years.

    Starching collars

I find it's best to starch both sides of most things you starch and realize that it's the heat, not the pressure that does the work of setting the starch. Pressing harder while rubbing will only make the curl worse. Let the heat and the starch do their jobs.

Competent tailor for alterations in Etobicoke (West Toronto) Ontario

I've never had much luck going to places that do dry cleaning too… I've even had basic hemming botched. I might be picky… but I'm not sure I'd trust them to clock the sleeves on a jacket, or shorten them from the top. Right now I've got a pair of linen jackets I want as much lining as possible...

Why does no one make Cordovan Bit Loafers?

Bonus points if you get them to craft a subtle horseshoe shape into the heal… ideally as a tread embossing.

What causes french cuffs to do this? Are these made right?

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I actually took it back to the shirt maker; it turns out it wasn't made right. They've made me a new one.

Blazer colour suggestions for navy pants

It would be really helpful if you posted a picture of your face so we can judge skin tone. Be sure to white balance the camera for better colour. The best thing to do would be to wear a white shirt, the pants in question, and take the picture with the flash on the camera outdoors in the shade...
