    Clarks Desert Boots

Updated my worn out CDB. Bought the new Aerials. Has a new lightweight synthetic sole. I really dig the look of the update to a classic: Coolest feature to the Aerial Desert boot is the new outsole: Doesn't get stained like the classic crepe sole and seems to be longer wearing...

What do you do for casual winter shoes?

I have Meindl Gastein GTX - excellent brand of German-made winter boots. The upgraded version with hidden ice spikes is the ultimate winter gear! You have the ability to get more traction in slippery conditions and you can also retract the traction when its not needed. I have the original...

    Clarks Desert Boots

The Horween Clarks Desert Boots are based on exact UK sizing. In standard Clarks, I can go down half a size from my American usual size. I wear the Horween in UK 8.

    Lining Unlined Wool Coats

That's what you want in a three season coat. You could go nylon if you live in a rainy climate; otherwise I think cotton is fine for what you want. I would say consult a dry cleaning shop/tailor and ask them what three season coat linings they recommend. They'll let you know if it can be lined...

    German Army Trainers Thread

There is no free shipping but its a couple of dollars. In my case, it was an $8.00 shipping charge. They get shipped UPS to the nearest USPS local post office which will then make the final delivery to a residential address. Too bad about the shipping fee but for that low a price I honestly...

    German Army Trainers Thread

You can check - remaining stock is listed for $29.99. I ordered mine January 1st with the LASTDASH coupon applied that brought the price down to $25.99. Check the JCP website for a coupon. But these bad boys are still a steal at the clearance price. The retail on them was originally $50.00...

    German Army Trainers Thread

The JCP Army Trainers are made in China - to be expected for the price they're sold. They run big though and in ordering my pair, I went half a size down from my usual EU 42 size and they fit perfect! The off color white is actually very nice looking. I'd bet they're made in the same factory...

    Lining Unlined Wool Coats

Are you looking for a winter coat? Then go with polyester batting inside in a nylon liner. If you're looking for a three season coat, a cotton or cotton/polyester lining might be more suitable.

    Clarks Desert Boots

Stock insole has no real support. I've put in Pedag comfort insoles and underneath a thinner pair of Pedag soft insole with the latex foam side up and it seems made for the Clarks Desert boots. Now I can walk in them in comfort. If you find the instep pinching your foot, a cobbler should be...

    Winter boots that aren't ugly

The screws have a clickety-clack sound on dry asphalt. But their serrated edges dig deep in snow and ice. Sliding on slick patches isn't my idea of winter fun!

    Winter boots that aren't ugly

Put screws in your winter boots! Small screws keep falling out and they're pain to replace but nothing beats spiked boots on snow and ice.

The definitive SF-approved non-baller sneaker thread

Affordable sneakers - The JCP Army Trainer... a decent knockoff of the baller MMM German Army Trainers. I got mine in off color white for $25.49 after the coupon. Current sale price is $29.99. They used to retail for $50.00. Kick ass classic sneakers without visible branding after a much...

    Winter boots that aren't ugly

In sunny weather, I wear Galibier Super Rando. Nice casual all around hiking boots. When there's snow and ice, I wear Sole Spike studded Meindl Gastein lambskin-lined winter boots. That's my go-to winter boots footwear.

    Winter boots that aren't ugly

A good pair of winter boots is wonderful on thick snow... not so good on slick ice and in that case, make em screw boots. It should be good enough for the entire season!

    Clarks Desert Boots

Congrats! The Lastigo leather made by Horween is actually very nice and I'm liking your rich color. I went for the classic taupe which is a light brown shade - more versatile for general walks. I can see the burgundy good for the office and for dressier wear. That's a great pair of DB you've...

    Comments on Alpha N-3B Parka?

Golden Fleece Spiewak is sold only in Japan through Rakuten. It has real coyote fur and is USA made and the ones here are all imported from China with a fake coyote fur ruff which is not good in freezing cold. I'm size 42, 5'7, 150 lb, 36 waist. I was outfitted by the Japanese retailer J-Pia...

    Comments on Alpha N-3B Parka?

The batting is important. Without it, it wouldn't be a very warm jacket! You're probably thinking of the US Army M-65 Fishtail Parka which is NOT as warm. Now its not thick in construction like a down jacket - but the idea behind one shouldn't have to sacrifice mobility for warmth. A lighter...

    Comments on Alpha N-3B Parka?

False. Its plenty warm enough with the polyester batting. When worn as part of layered winter clothing system, it will do the job of keeping one warm in subzero temperatures. In fact if you wear it above 30 F, you'll begin overheating. That's a measure of its effectiveness as a parka!

Baggy Leather Palladium Boots. Big ass feet.

Do you have wide feet or normal feet? If you have large feet - you may need to go custom depending on what type of feet you have. I feel your pain - for you its as difficult to find shoes that fit as its difficult for a short guy like me to find clothes that fit. Good luck!

    Clarks Desert Boots

Mine is the UK size 8. It felt tight on the instep and my cobbler had to stretch it. You may or may not need the Horween DBs stretched but its an option.
