    Japanese vs. Irish linen

I’m curious about the functional differences between Irish and Japanese linen, specifically what makes Irish linen more expensive. I’ve seen examples recently in shirting, where (even without a specific mill listed), an Irish linen shirt will retail for $20-$30 more than the Japanese equivalent.

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

“contemporary” being something outside of a standard tux (like a velvet dinner jacket, Albert slippers, etc). Mainly, I saw several people in patterned DJ's

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

It was a mixed bag, but i think since it was a Friday evening showing (a week before Christmas no less), the crowd erred more on the formal side. I didn’t see anyone wearing classic black tie, but I noticed a number of people in contemporary black tie. Lots of suits too, and I only noticed one...

New gloves came in over the weekend. Tan deerskin on the left, brown lambskin on the right: the brown is very dark, but you can still tell it’s brown. All my other gloves from other brands are medium so I went with that- fits pretty much perfectly. Really happy with how these turned out- I’ll...

38R in each: both have the same amount of room, the Ulster is slightly longer though (and the sleeves are longer- I'm still thinking about seeing if I can get them lengthened).

polo coat and DB overcoat have the same measurements, so that makes sense.

Shot in the dark here, but based on where the end of the sleeves hit the pockets, I'd assume length at least is like the regular DB. Edit: it has the same size chart as the regular DB, so I'd bet same fit.

I do cuffs, but limit to 1.75". 2"+ were all the rage a while back, but I think it looks bad on anyone under 6'1" at least. And I do no break or the very slightest of breaks.

I seem to recall it was just their “original duffle toggle coat”. I don’t know, I got it off Gilt for $120 5-6 years ago- all I know is it’s TTS in size 38, made in England, and super comfortable. Less warm than the S&M tweed polo coat, but it has the advantage of a hood. none of that helps...

I have a Gloverall (without the zipper, just a single snap under the toggles). I can’t speak to the Spier one, but I love the style of jacket. It works well with everything from jeans and a sweater to a sportcoat/dress pants. It’s kind of like wearing a big heavy blanket

I used to (years back) spend a lot of time on AAAC, where undarted sacks were the only “acceptable” jacket. My first one was a beautiful vintage Corbin that fit great everywhere, except I hated how boxy it was. That was where I determined that a true “sack” fit just wasn’t my thing. I had the...

Overcoat post, and picture heavy. This is the size 38R trench coat (which is my usual jacket size). I have my Neo hopsack underneath with the quilted liner and there’s plenty of room for movement, so I assume there would be slightly more without the liner. I could stand maybe another inch to the...

I think the overall outfit and the context in which it’s worn is crucial with something like the trench coat- wearing a suit/tie with it while actually dealing with inclement weather would turn less heads than wearing it with jeans/t shirt on a sunny day.
