The first rule of cheap suit buying is "KNOW THY MEASUREMENTS." And if you cannot follow that rule the second best rule is: "KNOW THY SHOULDER MEASUREMENT." Its not that hard. Find the best fitting shirt you've got. Measure the yoke width and that's your shoulder length. Now you can go forth on...

New member needs help with Marco Valentino super 160's

I've been shopping around for a "cheap" suit around town and checked a few places like Holts last call, Harry Rosen Outlet store and Toms in Kensington Market. The suits in the $600 to $800 price range didn't seem as nice as this one and the fit no better because of my build. We don't really...

New member needs help with Marco Valentino super 160's

Would it be a bad Idea to take it some where else for the shoulders after already having it altered? I'm not worried about paying but not sure where to try taking it in the Toronto area. I have a hard time getting suits that fit as I have big legs and but from running and smaller chest and...

I don't get it. You came asking for advice. Everyone that posted advice said the shoulders were too big. You took the suit to an alternations place (note: not a tailor), and they gave you contrary advice. They are probably unskilled and can't do shoulder work, and that's why they told you the...

I went to Paul's Alteration Center at Bathurst and 401 today. He said the shoulders and length were perfect but is suppessing the waist and shortening the sleeves by .5 inch as well as letting the waist and seat out about an inch. I'll post pics when I pick it up.

Seems like the shoulders are too big for you. You need to size down. If this was a 38 - try the 36. Thanks I appreciate that. Problem is this suit doesn't come in a size smaller they don't make the Marco Valentino's in 160's wool any more and this happened to be left over. The 150's are quite...

You need to size down the jacket. It looks too big in the shoulders and too long. My hands are infront of me in the one pic and makes it look longer. The webs of my fingers are at the bottom of the jacket. Not sure if thats where it should be though. This is one of the only suits he has in...

Hi friends After lurking these forums for a couple of months I decided to buy a suit from ebay seller Wizard of Aahs. I found a Navy with blue stripes Marco Valentino suit made with super 160's wool and it came today. The suit is great especially for the price. It fits well in the shoulders...
