Is it possible to get an overcoat re-died?

I have a very old overcoat that is in otherwise decent shape except the color has begun to fade. Both because of the quality of the garment and because of its sentimental value, I'd rather restore it if possible even if buying new would be less expensive. Is getting it re-died a possibility...

    "Dress" Jeans for the Office

So, my future employer is a very casual place and people often wear jeans to the office. Can anyone recommend a good set of dark jeans that can we worn with a dress shirt tucked in, leather shoes, and a sport-coat for around $100? I would ask this on the streetwear and denim side, but I'm going...

I've got this strange problem with the back of my suit jacket

When I put the jacket on, the back of the jacket doesn't cover the back of the collar (Ron Paul style but not quite that bad). However, when I took it to a tailor, he just grabbed the jacket and, as best I can describe it, just situated it on me differently and then it fit fine for the rest of...

When do you wear a sport coat?

I always feel like I am either under-dressed or over-dressed in slacks and a sport coat. Either everyone else is wearing slacks and a button-down or they are wearing a suit. How do you folks know when rocking a sport coat is the right move? Are the only for daytime? What sort of events can I...

What sorts of jeans will and won't fade?

From reading the forums here, it seems as if denim that isn't raw won't really acquire signs of wear, is this correct?

Do I have to wash jeans in order to shrink them or can I just throw them in the dryer?

My tailor said that I needed to shrink these jeans I just bought before he could tailor them. Do they shrink more if you wash and dry them or will 45 minutes in a hot dryer do the trick?

Blue suit with rope stripe acceptable for a legal interview?

Just bought one. Wondering if it can do double duty as an interview suit. Its a lighter shade of navy (read, still dark but would not be confused with black) with a very light blue stripe. Conservative cut.

Who does a good 2 roll 3 these days for under 1k?

Had some good ones from hugo boss. Just bought a new 2 button suit but I don't like it as much. Unfortunately, doesn't seem like anyone does 2 roll 3s anymore. Can anyone solve this puzzle?

Coupons and Sales at Brooks Brothers

I am in the market for a Brooks Brothers suit and would rather not pay retail. I know about their semi-anual sale at the end of June but is there any way of getting some discounts before then or of getting a bigger discount at that time?

Three buttons ok on a sport coat?

So, taking the advice of some members of this forum, I have decided to splash out on a new sport coat. Found a nice used Zegna gold, black, and grey (haring bone?) blazer that fits me perfectly and is in perfect condition. However, it has three buttons. Is this acceptable to wear with charcoal...

Frayed sleeves on blazer, what can be done?

I have a solid navy blazer with sleeves that are pretty much at the minimum acceptable length so getting them taken up is not an option. This being the case, is there any way of repairing the frayed sleeves?

Should I be concerned about this?

Went to my dry cleaner to get something rewoven. Apparently they work with a reweaving specialist. I was told (a) I would not be able to speak to this specialist (b) I had to pay a deposit before they would allow me to drop off the garment for reweaving. Sketchy or par for the course in re weaving?

Trying to salvage an old Hugo Boss suit that fits me like a dream but has some holes/tears in the seat.

Suit jacket too tight, what can be done?

I bought a cheap suit a while back and have been paying the price ever since. After numerous trips to numerous tailors, it actually looks pretty good on me. However, I can't reach forward to do things like wash my hands. Can a tailor fix this problem? FWIW, the jacket is a 40L but im actually...

ITT - You help a student complete his wardrobe

Hello there, I'm happy I found this forum, so much ignorance and wasted money could have been averted if only I'd found it sooner. I'm a first year student at an Ivy League law school here on the east coast. I'm from more rugged parts of the country myself, so most of what I know about...
