In terms of food, that you shouldn't swim for an hour after eating is a myth. That said eating immediately after a big meal can make you feel bloated and slow you down, but if you have no energy because you haven't eating for hours then that's no good either. Wearing a suit to work...
You can't always know what is expected for an interview and for that reason I wear a suit. If you don't then you might fail to get the job on account of not dressing professionally. I think there are very few cases where someone will not give you the job just because you wore a suit.- expo09

I think it's fine to have certain rules where deemed neccessary. So if a restaurant has a dress code and people don't want to follow it, then that's fine but they should go somewhere else.
