The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

I've definitely been tapering down my trips to the thrift store this last year. Especially as things seemed drier and drier, there was less of a motivation to make a day of it. But this summer really turned that around, I've found some really great things these past few months: This immaculate...

Have never found Tom Ford tailored items before, can anyone confirm if this is real? It doesn’t have the classic hexagonish “Tom Ford” inside nor any additional labels inside beside what the images show. It generally feels pretty well made, but again I’m not familiar with Tom Ford quality and...

The Glen check one is a 44R and the Birdseye is a 46R I thought it definitely had a 70's vibe, that makes sense. I've been planning to go to a disco club since watching a bunch of Whit Stillman movies, so this will be a natural match. The only other tag / label is the Carroll & Company one...

I regretted leaving this behind, but it was just too small for me and I wasn’t sure there was a real market for something so niche. Still, I figured you guys might appreciate it. Dunhill made Tartan blazer with a velvet collar for Giorgio Beverly Hills. Looks like something the Duke of Windsor...

Just found this today, but can anyone explain what the deal is with Stile Latino? Apparently, it was founded by Vincenzo Attolini, grandson of the OG Cesare. But does it have any affiliation with the greater Cesare Attolini brand? Is it their cheaper entry level stuff, or is the cut different...

Label reminds me of Brioni, but I don’t want to get excited if it’s nothing. Can anyone tell me the maker for this blazer from Carroll & Co?

Finally had a lucrative week after a pretty long thrift store dry spell this summer. First pair of Common Projects I've found and they're in my size and in remarkably good shape. I've coveted a pair for awhile now and had basically resigned myself to never finding them, and having to shell out...

Pop on Hermes and Stefano Ricci. Now I just need to find more occasions to wear ties... LEN Lifestyle alligator belt. Almost feels like suede. Had never heard of LEN before, but pretty insane to think about spending nearly $700 on a belt of all things. Turnbull & Asser Navy Blazer. Thought...

Yeah, it had that strong, peculiar odor. That’s hilarious, what a strange coincidence. Only thing to ask him is if he had donated the pants!

By chance, I did. How’d you know? I contemplated getting it as just an odd jacket, since it was only like $10 after the discount, but the arms are too short and with surgeon cuffs, it’s kinda a pain to adjust. Felt like selling an odd jacket may not be worth the time.

Thanks for the info on the Brioni. Much more recent than I had assumed. Hadn’t considered move-out week. Probably not the best location for that anyway where I am. Pop on RLPL tailoring today, but couldn’t find matching pants, so passed for now. Am I correct in thinking this is part of a...

Anyone else feel like thrifting finds tend to slow down in early summer? Slowly, the desirable racks are overtaken by an abundance of T-shirts, shorts, and swim trunks. Also, what's entailed by "ethrifting"? Still don't know if that just means purchased on eBay or some other site entirely. Well...

"You know, what I'd really like to find is something from Kiton." Oh? *the monkey's paw curls* Oh... I'm going to be traumatized by this for awhile. Gotta wonder what it must be like to have the cash to buy something like this new and treat it with such little regard... @carreragt7 with...

Apologies in advance for what has turned into quite a lengthy list of recent finds... Here's the Brittany Ltd Chicago suede Harrington jacket all cleaned up. Older 3-button Isaia with a subtle windowpane pattern. Zegna 3-button in this great blue and black herringbone pattern. Curious what...

Thanks for the info, that confirms to me that it's worth keeping and investing some time to address the lovely thrift store odor currently attached to it. I definitely see the Polo connection, I've run into vintage PRL more regularly and the quality feels similar. The Chicago Tribune snippet is...

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome last week. Was feeling pretty good about what I had to share, but it only took a few hours to be humbled by Spoo casually showing up with a Loro Piana Vicuna coat. I suppose that's closest thing to a true initiation on this forum. I have other, more...

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Been lurking on this thread for some time in the hopes that by delving into the enormous backlog of posts here, I'll pick up something of an informal thrifting education in the process. I still probably have a lot to learn, but I think I finally have some true thrift finds of my own worth...
