Thanks a lot for your answer. Is any shade of olive or darker brown recommendable as separate trousers? Is grey and beige e.g. a deal-breaker or is the shade essential?

    One loafer above all others

I have a question about the Tricker‘s James Loafes in Chocolate Suede. Can you wear them with a classic navy blazer and grey wool trousers combination or is it to casual due to the beefroll and the split-toe? Are chinos/moleskin the maximum?

    One loafer above all others

Ok, thanks. I am just worried about the statement, that black (formal) does not fit with a loafer (informal). So to say a contradiction? Or just a prejudice?

    One loafer above all others

So to sum up a dark brown/burgundy penny loafer is much more versatile and recommendable than a black penny loafer, right? Especially for a first pair of loafers.
