Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. The unofficial Drake's London Appreciation Thread

I like Drake's taste and quality of ties, I just got a madder I was eyeing on sale, but for a solid basic like that I wouldn't pay even sale price for those. I'm confident Drake's $225 knit ties are the same $125 ties from The Armory that are even less from Shibumi. They all come from the same...

I don't recall paying taxes either. I've been in California for every purchase.

    Thomas Mason American Oxford

Thomas Mason's Kennedy cotton Oxford is what I would go for if having a shirt made. I've only handled the swatches at trunk shows but I did like the hand. It has the 'right' weave, meaning not too fine. Someone here mentioned Acorn shirt fabrics in the UK too for Oxford cloth.

    The OCBD collar roll thread

Hi, Is this lined and fused? Can you speak to how the collar on a shirt like this takes repeated machine washing? Trying to decide between MTO lined/fused Anglo Italian vs Unlined Junior's. Thanks!

Proper Cloth - Official Affiliate Thread

With a non fused, lightly lined button down collar that's pretty normal. Unlined, unfused lined, and lined fused all have some form of creasing or sagging fabric. I think your right side looks fine but the left is slightly odd. The collar it's self looks like I needs to be pulled down; it looks...

May be the same mill but it's unlikely the exact same cloth. None of the colors look like what I have.

Who'd you have make your shirts and, if I may, what was the cost? I haven't felt the cloth in person but it seems to have the heft and performance that others don't. "High-end" OCBD cloth to me is made with too fine of yarn that wrinkles easily.

    Quality of canali

Canali is a good brand that has a dedicated following; there are definitely "Canali people" who trust the brand and feel they're high value. One of the best machine made suits where the $1,995 price tag is inflated by an earned reputation.

Which ready-to-wear suit brands are fully-canvassed and non-fused in 2024?

Ring Jacket is now shipping internationally. Living in The States, to me The Armory's suit offerings from RJ are the best high quality, high value tailored garment that can be had domestically RTW. Samuelsohn are fully canvassed jackets regardless of season. Some brands don't fully canvass...

    Anglo-Italian

That's really nice to hear I may try one of these as an OCBD. I like my Drake's but they're narrow in the shoulders and the sleeves are a bit full. I also need a 36" sleeve MTO. I've learned that atm Drake's only offers neck/body size choice and length options so only one issue can be fixed...

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

I would advise to get a size up, wash once at least, maybe even twice before hemming. My first part shrunk a good amount in length after a wash or two. With my most recent pair I got a size up, washed them, had them hemmed almost two inches too long and then washed them again and they're about...

I wash my clothes haha. I meant I don't have them pressed and laundered at a dry cleaner.

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

I agree that that the opening is narrow but the rise, hips and thigh width balance the silhouette. The legs are full and comfortable all the way down, then they aggresvly taper to a close from the calf down. It keeps them looking classic but current regardless of how you hem them. I don't press...

Navy Blazer Travel Tropicals – Fox Air, Standeven Explorer, Fresco III 14/15, Finmeresco, et cetera

I know you're asking for personal experiences but Simon has a nice guide on many of the bunches your asking about. When I'm looking for suit cloth I have a similar requirement of performance and longevity. To me I feel like weight/ply is the primary factor; you should be looking at 11oz or...

VBC fabric line choices for "traveler" sports coats and suits.

That is strange. I would expect VBC to be able to fulfill that request no problem. Maybe ask the shop if they'll do the jacket if you get the fabric yourself and then reach out to VBC.

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

While technically the RJ items are the entry level for The Armoury, I don't think anything beats the sport chino as far as casual pants. They are a versatile, no-fuss, washable work horse pant that fits very well based on their design. My fit preference just doesn't agree with Italian pant...

VBC fabric line choices for "traveler" sports coats and suits.

The places you visit may not have the selection of bunches you're looking for available in their location, but if they have an account with the mill/merchant they should still be able to order it for you. Depending on your size the amount of cloth needed for jacketing it may not be that...
