What Movies Are You Watching Lately

Watchable, but did not make a lot of sense even for a Bond movie. Tropical tux and Lea Seydoux were possibly best things about this movie. Not great not terrible.

    What are you reading?

what stoners already knew, but were sometimes afraid to say it in the polite society ;) on serious note, it outlines misguided government policy and cites a number of possible medical applications that are therapeutic or may enhance quality of life in patients

    What are you reading?

It's a great book, The Island of Doctor Moreau is pretty much in this vein. Both much better than corresponding attempts to put these stories to screen.

What TV Series Are You Streaming Lately?

Re-watching Space Above and Beyond 95-96' , the wife likes it a lot(surprisingly as special effects didn't age good), but talking about shameful cancels one could throw that in.. one the plus side, it didn't have time to get bad

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

Movie about security forces and cops making transition from commie times to 90s broke down and in transition Poland, mixed some very clear influence of US crime/action movies, pretty cool.

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

They don't make em like this anymore. One of the very favorites. But then again it's based on Tennessee Williams play and it has Richard Burton and Ava Gardner so it couldn't go very wrong.

    What are you reading?

Interesting comment. I am not sure it's misunderstood, I think it might be used to ironically tell another story(similar to Robocop maybe? In Robocop the bad guy was corporatism). I see it as a story how easily fascism is normalized but eventually hurts people(I take it's easily normalized...

    The Official Wine Thread

Likely I could spare half a day near all these places, as the route would go from Joshua Tree north along the mountains and then north of SF near Napa and then south to LA or San Diego. Good to hear Paso is value, as forum here suggested Austin Hope once and now its one of family favourites...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

1910-1950s is considered the Classical Hollywood, while New Hollywood followed from 1960s to 1980s. In 1960s you start seeing much more of deconstruction and cultural criticism in movies like say in The Graduate, Misfits, or Lumet's The Hill(possibly best role Sean Connery ever played). There...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

It was so bad it's good imo sort of guilty pleasure. Rich guy being Ben Gazzara who stares intensely and menacingly at things before they die is a nice bonus to have in movie like this. Agreed on not buying 4k UHD movie though. Friend of mine torrented it from Bulagarian site, which is the price...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

I have seen it, not long after that recommendation. You have very nihilistic taste my friend ;) I appreciate the mood of the movie but not the outcome. It is an interesting movie by all means. Though I would still go with La Dolce Vita despite its pretentiousness though. Citing my favorite...

Yeah that's a good point. Which brings me to Metaxa, the greek freek of brandys, as i understand it should age at least slightly in bottle as it is mixed distilled wine with wine and herbs.. not sure though. I remember talking with Greek sommelier about Metaxa and he claimed Metaxa still matures...

Very good book on my favorite ball player ever. Focuses a lot on his time as a coach. He remained down to earth person and did not enjoy popularity he had.

    What are you reading?

I think it was one of those very productive forum conversations regarding use of atomic bomb. I was checking for contemporary opinions about it use and Leahy's stood out to me as very principled. Being a something of a naval history buff I thought I needed to read something about the man. I...
