  • Epaulet x Styleforum Alpine Loden Collection

Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. Partnering with Rochester Tailored Clothing, we offer custom garments like sportcoats, suits, and overcoats, made to your specifications. Learn more about the Loden collection here.

Where to find dress shirts with non-fused collar and cuffs?

I make shirts and don't use any fusing on the collar or cuffs. I don't think it's necessary if you have a collar stand the collar should sit well without fusing. All fusing loses it's strength over time usually.

Can 100% cotton dress pants tagged dry clean be hand-washed?

Usually if a cotton fabric is marked dry clean only it is because a wash may shrink the cotton enough to change it's shape and size. Dry cleaning is the only option in this case. Having said that, there are cotton dry clean things I have washed by hand where there wasn't much aggitation which...

Do I keep this sport coat?

I'm trying to think if the shoulders could be shortened to bring the sleeve in closer to the body (and take the padding out) so it looks more casual, but that will make the sleeve even shorter.

Which pattern is most versatile for a summer sports coat?

I would go 7 from the left. I think a lighter colour sports coat in summer looks good.

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

If we're still talking about that jacket, it is an unfortunate design. Yes, the tailor should have said so but in the end they meet the customers' demands. On top of that it was an unfortunate fit, looking almost too small. If we're not talking about that, I can safely say I've lost track of the...

Shantung silk is more of a medium weight silk. It's also very dense so it doesn't flow so much as maintain it's shape. Really nice shot silk. See the image for the general texture.

What did you eat last night for dinner?

I cooked chili with vegan mince, beans and tomato on basmati rice. Nothing too exciting but one of my favorites

OTR suits never fit my shoulders--should I go MTM (or bespoke) for my wedding?

You can always try getting an off the rack suit and have it altered at the shoulders. You can either have the shoulder recut to allow for your slope. It would take someone who can alter the sleeve head to match. Or you can have the shoulder padded out to make both shoulders look the same. If you...

What's the difference between a bespoke shirt and a MTM shirt?

Bespoke usually involves taking your shape into consideration. That is to say that if you have a shoulder say, lower than another, a bespoke garment will take such things in consideration, whereas MTM is usually geometric and the same both sides. Also MTM does not take into consideration non...

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

It could probably do with a little bit taken in at the back armholes and reattaching the sleeve. The jacket looks like it has wide enough shoulders to allow for movement across the back even if you take the excess off. It all depends on how tight it feels on you to begin with. I suspect in this...

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Yes. Usually it is as simple as cutting the excess off. You need to know how to cut as it's usually cut at an angle or rather the inner seam needs to have a reasonable allowance and cut across.

Looking for Budget Friendly Dress Shirt Recommendations (Building New Wardrobe)

If you have difficulty with the fit of a shirt and that's your main concern, you might want to rethink your budget and try something which is going to cost more but have a better cut, and have less shirts overall. It's always better to wear the same well fitting shirt twice then two...

Larger guy, nice sport coat advice

I am sure I've seen a few online MTM sites if you search. The top one listed is. https://www.hockerty.com/en-au/men/custom-coats/?utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjwyNSoBhA9EiwA5aYlb_Y0LJTGRJHOaRnWpJw9ol0LFu1yQRlf_YuqBp3awedti9TQoQ22IBoCKZYQAvD_BwE But there are others. You might need someone to...

    Need Tie Advice

I like the first tie. It's more towards the grey colour of the suit and the floral print is not too busy. If you want to match the dress go for a single colour possibly in grey. You might get lucky and find a tie close to the green of the dress but you'd have to do some searching. Nat
