The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

I agree, their loafers don’t hit the mark as much as you’d hope. But they will do MTO - just be careful knowing your size and how that will work on a loafer rather than lace up shoe. I’ve got some U last MTO loafers.

This. And you’re not sure whether to be distressed because the trousers are gone, or sanguine because you’ve not worn them in four years anyway…

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

The linen cotton canvas (15oz) is great and doesn’t wear as heavy as the numbers suggest. Not sure I’d wear it in extreme heat and humidity - but good daily driver stuff for a European summer.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I’ve done it the other way around - I have a handful of (SB and DB) suits where the trousers have worn out or got damaged and I’ve had the buttons swapped out (e.g. for mother of pearl) to intentionally turn an orphaned suit jacket into a blazer. However they are all plain navy. I wouldn’t try...

I agree, and it’s one of the reasons I would love a retailer like NMWA who provide great measurements and images to carry them. It’s important to remember that Japan is a significant export market for them, but they do have two very different fits (regular and oversize) within the same alpha...

@DinhoT51 I’d leave it - great quality but it’s an orphaned suit jacket so no market

    11-11 (Eleven Eleven) appreciation thread

Really pleased to see NMWA picking up 11-11. Here’s a piece from an older season, for a sunny Saturday morning. Cotton / linen blend popover showing the amazing handwoven fabrics 11-11 uses as well as the handsewn accents:

Talking of in stock fabrics, @luxire when might we expect the additional colours of the linen-cotton canvas please?

Going to get shot for this, but I think that’s just a bad fit (for him - her outfit looks sharp)

I generally do a cool hand wash cycle in the machine, and have not experienced any noticeable shrinkage.

    SWD Discussion Thread for Tailoring

I’d also swap out the buttons so it reads less like an orphaned suit coat. Brass, or light brown, or mother of pearl.

    SWD Discussion Thread for Tailoring

To my eye that’s too small - in particular the buttoning point on the jacket is too high even though the sleeve length looks OK. It’s an issue with many Italian brands / Italian inspired RTW tailoring, the sleeves are long compared to the body which makes it better to get the right body length...

Personally I struggle to see how anything other than C is a legitimate option. The tailor’s response (which might include them offering D) will inform how you react. I’m also not hearing anything which is egregious enough to warrant A. Your scenario suggests it’s just lapel width?

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

I get braces buttons and side adjusters on all my trousers. I’ve found myself wearing braces with suits less in recent years, but mostly because with the casualisation of the workplace a suit is unusual, a tie exceptional, and I suspect braces are a bridge too far…

Aside from the cropped trousers, inseams seem to hover around the 30-31 inch range, although with a higher rise so you can get more out of them. For the items which are essentially made to order, they offer custom inseam - either on the item page or if you mail customer services. I have a...

Some more pieces: Knit tees, this time in natural and indigo dye: One of their sweatshirts - third party blank, but natural indigo dyed and with badhani (hand tied thread dye resist) ‘clouds’: More badhani, this time on a very lightweight band collar popover: Something I didn’t...
