Yeah, I was hoping to get the Stretch Polyester Poplin trouser and the Lightweight Nylon Poplin Blouson, but neither made it to the UK. I’m a bit puzzled about the sizing. I would think that you’re right (that the Japan items are just relabelled a different size in the UK), but if you compare...

Sold out straight away in Japan too. Alas, I missed out both times.

Interesting, some of those reasons are why it appeals to me. Yes, I had those same Edwin jeans (I got them for a really good price at the time so I was happy with them). Looks like they still sell that design in Japan, where the Edwin and Canton collaborations seem popular. What denim do you...

Haha, that’s fair. I guess I’m still partial to a lot of skate/streetwear. Do you think they look particularly bad for denim shorts or is just the fact that they’re denim shorts?

I remember these, weren’t they called the Naval Short or something similar? I like them. Also, I’m curious what it is it that you don’t like about the Canton jeans?

I’ve been thinking of getting the Carpenters Short, have you seen them in person and if so what were your impressions? And have you/anyone else here bought any of the MHL x Canton jeans? They seem a bit pricey, but I like the unique designs.

AW24 Collection Preview https://www.margarethowell.co.uk/aw24-collection-preview Looks nice, is that some eyewear this season? (On a related note, still have (and wear daily) a pair of the Cutler and Gross sunglasses from 2015.)

And here’s the campaign and lookbook for the Mizuno collection on the Margaret Howell Japan website: https://www.margarethowell.jp/mizuno_campaign_ss24.html https://www.margarethowell.jp/mizuno-lookbook-2024SS.html

Looks like the new Mizuno capsule collection is going to be released tomorrow (in Japan). From what I gather, it is comparatively quite a large collection (40 items?) of jackets, coats, shorts, trousers, jumpers, long-sleeve jerseys, t-shirts, tank tops, bags, shoes and socks. It will be sold in...

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

It’s a bit boring, but I’m pretty happy with MUJI for the most part. If I want something a bit more fancy I go with Sunspel (including the CDG Shirt Underwear colabs). https://shop-us.doverstreetmarket.com/collections/comme-des-garcons-cdg-shirt-underwear

I found some more looks (mainly MHL) this morning.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it looks cool and I’m probably just an outlier in preferring the sleeve length at or just past the wrist (but then relaxed/boxier elsewhere). Hard to get both of those things come together, but Margaret Howell in Japan seems to be cut a bit more like this.

I’m assuming this is the shearling vest: https://www.margarethowell.jp/online_store/onlinestore-men/onlinestore-men-blouson/5793225040.html?dwvar_5793225040_color=010&dwvar_5793225040_size=23-M&cgid=onlinestore-men-blouson#start=25&sz=18 Made in England, so I’m guessing it should be sold (for...

How is the Mizuno vest, and what did you get from Japan?

Ah yes, but even the mainline saddle crews seem to be suffering from the same longer sleeve syndrome lately, especially compared with the sizing from 2015 as I mentioned. For example: https://tres-bien.com/sale-segments/margaret-howell-saddle-crew-cotton-cashmere-sweater-moss-mekn0307s23kjsmos...

I’ve wanted to buy a cotton sweater lately and ended up buying the MHL Flatlock Guernsey from last season for a good price. I’m usually a size S, but I also got the XS to compare as I was curious to see if it would fit me any better. I know that you’re not really supposed to size down with this...

What did you pick up from the sample sale? And thoughts on the new collection (doesn’t seem like you were a fan of the past few)?
