    Poor man's watch thread

Absolutely love that. I'd be perfectly happy with it being quartz, even though I like automatics/manuals I think it's nice to have a dependable quartz and Grand Seiko quartz movements are more special than an average quartz movement.

Viberg Boots - Reviews, appreciation, news - share yours

I only have one pair of Viberg and they're brown CXL. I definitely think they're worth it, mine are 2 years old worn regularly and holding up great.

Very nice, mine are coppper worksmith leather which may be discontinued now. Briar oil slick is lovely though.

Finally got my 8 year old Red Wing Chukka's resoled. Went with a Vibram Gloxi for a change and really liking it so far. Good to have these back in action This is before the resole showing how worn the old sole was

    Red Wing boot appreciation thread

My 8 year old pair just back from a resole. I decided to try the Vibram Gloxi Cut sole for a change and because the cobbler recommended it. Really happy with how they turned out. These have been worn fairly regularly over 8 years and I still think they have many years left in them.

They are great, shame they've become too costly to repair but it's interesting to see such a worn pair.

They're looking amazing! Do you like the Saphir CXL cream? I've been considering trying it as I'm in the UK so VSC is difficult to get. I currently use Smiths leather balm on mine very occasionally but I'm not sure if it's the best product for CXL or not

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

I had a pair of these and really rated them quite highly. I only sold them as I had an opportunity to buy some Crockett & Jones Snowdon veldt boots in zug and couldn't justify keeping both. I think in hindsight these were more comfortable than the Snowdons which I still have, this was mainly...

His work looks really good and he’s very helpful. I need to get my red wings to him soon. My Vibergs have got years left in the soles but I wanted to know someone in UK could repair before I bought them.

Definitely, hand stitching is a slow process

I spoke to Yorkshire Sole about this before I bought my Viberg's. He said he can do them but he would be handstitching them which incurs extra cost. I think he mentioned £150 from memory so roughly £50 more than a machine stitched GYW. https://yorkshiresole.co.uk I also rate Shoe Healer and...

    Crown Northampton Appreciation Thread

Fingers crossed for a simple solution. I'd love a pair of these but can't justify the cost right at this point. I was interested to hear that they made you two pairs. Do they just sell the other pair off in a factory shop or something? I didn't think they would do this with the shell sneakers...

Don't know if this is the reason but all Alden shell has a coating put on top so will be more resistant to water spotting from new than Viberg who leave the shell in a more natural state. I've heard wiping down witha damp cloth followed by brushing is the best way to remove spots and that some...

The Shell Cordovan, non-Alden Shoe and Boot Thread

I think shell cordovans surface does start out like this before the tannery finishes and glazes it so it looks like this has been removed.

Sold my pair earlier this year sadly. Had to accept they weren’t a good fit. The Shannon find have made up for it though

The Shell Cordovan, non-Alden Shoe and Boot Thread

Lucky find on eBay, a pair of NOS Church’s Shannon in burgundy shell. Best fitting shoe I’ve ever had too. The quality and standard of finish on these really impresses me, I don’t know how old they are but I don’t think Church’s have done shell in quite a while.

    Church's Appreciation Thread

Latest purchase, a pair of NOS shannon in burgundy shell on double leather sole. Can’t believe my luck to find a pair of these and they also fit really well. I gave them a good look over and cannot really find any flaws at all. Amazing shoes and an example of what Church’s are capable of...

I just gave my CXL pair a first condition at nearly a year old. I gave Smith’s leather balm a try and it seem to do a good job without much darkening. Bick 4 and VSC are hard to come by in the UK

Makes sense, are those derbies calf? Creasing looks more prominent. The leather on my boots is really nice. If it is horsebutt as you suggest then I am a fan of horsebutt 😄

Thanks for the info. They are really nice and I love the leather. What makes you think horsebutt out of interest? I have no experience with horsebutt
