    Besnard - Official Affiliate Thread

Thank you for the feedback. It's definitely small-to-size then. I'm 42 in Besnard, but it's a trim fit across the back. I would be XXL. No low rise trousers here, which is why I'm always on the lookout for these types of sweater polos.

How did you find the sizing on the polo? The size chart makes it appear quite small (24" half chest on the XXL!), but I'm curious for a real-world opinion.

Have we received any confirmation, via user experience, that SM's High-Rise trousers have significantly changed? Anyone who could not fit the previous iteration that is able to wear them now? A few suits are intriguing, but I've always had issues with the (lack of) rise and seat on their...

That's true. Although I think you're right that Neo and Traditional in the same fabric is unlikely. I don't mind the Neo but I prefer the Traditional lapel shape. It would be useful if Spier offered a broad preview for each season, at least of the special pieces (apparently the M&E is a...

I think you're both right here. Common fabrics like VBC are often made up in both trouser models, for example. But the one-off/seasonal fabrics tend to be selected for one item only. I did inquire with CS and they responded that they didn't know if the fabric would be made up in another model.

I wonder how the Marling & Evans fabric compares. It's actually slightly lighter (290 vs. 320) and I personally quite like the somewhat flatter(?) appearance of its texture. (Mock Leno looks great though too.) Anyone have insider knowledge on whether these fabrics are coming out in Non-Neo cut?

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

Thank you for the reply. The pictures online are pretty good. I'm wondering about their claim that they have a wider forefoot for comfort. My foot is a US 'D' width, but it's verging on an 'E' depending on the make of the shoe.

The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread

Can anyone speak to the fit and quality on their more recent shoe offerings? The Gilman and Berkeley are both versions of what I've been looking for, but my foot tends a bit wider with a higher arch (oxfords can therefore be an issue). Hard to tell fit from the photos obviously, so any insight...

There are a lot of new things going on around here, and this may very well be one of them. (My own neck/sleeve size in their shirts is no longer a regularly stocked item.)

High-twist cotton definitely has a texture to it, akin to fresco. Certainly not as soft as the merino polos from Fall (which I like as well). I've found these ones very breathable, if not as soft as a brushed or slub cotton would be.

I agree with the @ericgereghty on color. Look past the model photos to the product shot itself and then keep in mind it's going to be a shade darker. I've found this to be the case with other retailers as well. Picked up a couple of these and I can confirm that the olive is slightly darker...

Or maybe just jackets that aren't painted onto the models. They all could use a size larger.

I agree. It really doesn't make sense, especially on the staples (which is most of what they've started stocking for SS24 and what I personally have been watching out for). SM's shirts at custom prices don't seem to me the same value as their MTO tailoring. And there is a lot of competition in...

I would like to highlight that SM has ALSO changed the sizing in their RTW collection. My size (16.5/36 Contemporary) is no longer available, save one single make-up (Green Poplin). I've checked every other new shirt this season. I emailed CS early last season, and was first told that sizes...

An inch and a quarter difference in the chest is the difference of a full size, say 42 vs. 44. That's unacceptable in RTW and certainly no good for MTM. I would be protesting with them. Even assuming you don't care about money and the time it takes to tailor it, I simply would not want a...

This is correct. It is an intentionally higher crew-neck collar ("...a raised, reinforced neck designed to fit close to the neck"). It's certainly not a mock-neck, but sits slightly higher. I wear a 16.5 neck, and my big head fits through last season's just fine. I also like it, but concur...

+1 on this. Spier suits are off limits for me simply due to the rise. I'd be interested in confirmation of these changes.

I purchased a 3-2 RTW this season and was also confused why that option is not listed under their "Normal Sportcoat" options. I inquired with Spier about whether the 3-2.5 in the MTO interface was the same as their 3-2 sold as RTW. I was told you can order 3-2.5 and then indicate 3-2 in the...

This is correct, but @JTrent82 is also right. Spier doesn't really restock but generally releases core items year after year. So I would expect HR High-Twist as Spring 24 stock starts to roll out. This FW they did get short-shipped by their supplier on a few items (merino polos, for example)...

Reviewing the Size Chart, I now see you are probably better off in the 42. The 40 is only 45.9" in the chest, which doesn't allow much room for an OCBD and a sportcoat.
