So apparently there are a bunch of PS x John Lobb shoes at the Paul Smith Warehouse sale in Paddington @ $150. Is there any chance one of you kind Syndeysiders might be headed there today or tomorrow and could help me out picking up some UK10 Westbournes or Loafers. Of course i'd be happy to...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Hi Alan, Most of those pics look great so I guess there may be some hope for me yet. My weight loss was a bit all over the place, though mostly my upper back, thighs and waist. The most worrying part is that I can tell from my older suits that shoulders are a bit big now. I think I remember...

Thanks for the info guys. I'm mostly well now but have been saddled with diabetes as a result of losing most of my pancreas, which has called for a pretty drastic change in lifestyle. (no more Xerrex for me, or any other beer for that matter; craft or otherwise). No Uniqlo in Adelaide...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Hi Guys. Sorry I know this isn't really the appropriate forum but I thought it would be the best place to get opinions to help with my situation... So I commissioned my first real bespoke project about 6 months ago; my first DB suit in a mid-grey fresco. I live in a sartorial wasteland so I...

Hey everyone. Long time no etc. It looks like this thread has taken a bit of a turn lately. The recent posts are both encouraging, but also make me feel a little guilty over my own purchases this year. I had a pretty impactful life change this year and now need to do some major restructuring or...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Sorry i just found this thread so a little late to the party. I'd be keen on mtm since i highly doubt any standard sizing is going to work for me. Will this be offered as well and what woukd the markup be over the gmto pricing?

I have never heard of these guys but their faq actually says they do not regard themselves as bespoke makers. The description sounds a little like a local adelaide store that opened recently that did call themselves bespoke but on further inquiry was really just mtm slightly upgraded by the...

Which would have the most unique dishes? For example, my wife's favourite place in Adelaide is Orana because they serve things like honeyed ants, roo crackling, and a variety of aus bush plants that you wouldnt see on many other menus. I made a reservation for Quay but having second thoughts as...

Given the wealth of info given on the last dining request I thought I'd check for recs from the SF Oz team. Looking for reccommendations for fine dining options in Sydney. So far considering Quay or Momofuku. My wife is a big fan of degustation with 'interesting dishes' (i.e. not just a top...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Oh, I thought you were in Aus. I'm going through TFC Pretty straight forward. flap pockets (or patch if I lose my willpower), 6x2, spalla camicia, single hand stitching, horn buttons. Trousers apparently must be cuffed (Joe was very adamant on this so I didn't seem to get much choice...)

I suppose you can never have too much navy. May I ask who you are using for your commission? I just ordered my first DB as well. Going with a minnis fresco mid grey cos 2/3 or my wardrobe is already navy! Work wont start until next week so i keep findingmyself having to resist the urge to email...

If you buy from Ebay then I think the answer is yes. You will definitely get slogged if you buy from an ebay store. I'm not so sure about private sellers though. Smaller vendors skirt the laws a bit (I didn't pay any gst on my EGs i ordered a couple months ago but that wasn't ebay). It depends...

I agree this one is kind of ugly. But it has the most pronounced example of pick stitching which is what I was looking for. I've seen the effect to a lesser degree in a lot of other suits and I quite like it when it's noticeable but a bit more understated than this one. LBM1911???

What is going on with the edges of this jacket? Is it caused by the material or is it a type of finishing? In which case what is it called?

I've been having trouble figuring this out too. Im currently planning on commissioning a new suit, but want it to be versatile enough that i can wear the jacket as a SC as well. Is it just an issue that wosrteds dont work for sport coats but anything else could be fine? Atm I'm thinking of a...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

So this is awkward. Took my new EGs on their maiden voyage yesterday. Unfortunately when i took them off this happened (see below). It looks like the top layer of the inside of the shoe is not secured properly and has lifted up at the end it really is a minor thing since it flattens out when i...
