    Cars We Drive!

Modifications, non stock suspension and brakes are often, but not always signs cars were tracked particularly Boxsters and Caymans. I've rarely met guys who just drive their cars on the street who modify the suspension and brakes. It can depend on on mileage, but to some degree a lot of track...

    Cars We Drive!

It's funny, because I know some people who complained that the 981 and 718 are larger than the old 987 Cayman/Boxster. Personally, I like the size of the 981 Cayman and Boxster because its pretty close in size to older 911s. As you know 911s have gotten larger over the years...but maybe having...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Or you sell and prices continue to go up and you can never afford it again. I know guys who have owned various watches and sports cars, sold them to buy something else made a little money when they did it, but figured prices would remain constant. Now prices are such they can't afford to get...

Actually, the only times I've noticed judges wearing interesting watches, both were on the bench and one was wearing a 16610LV Green/Kermit Submariner, and another time a judge was wearing a Panerai.

Yes, you will always need some form of dress watch. I know you are in a different state, and maybe you are practicing in a different area of law than I do, however our courts are moving back to having in person hearings and trials. Perhaps your courts will eventually do the same. You may...

For @George Red - Daytona, gold or platinum Tank (LC, Cintree or Aysmetrique), and Nautilus (you have 2 out of three). If I were cutting down to a 3 watch collection based on what I have it would be a 16520/16528 Zenith Daytona (in steel or gold), a CPCP Tank LC XL, and a RO Jumbo.

I found once I had more than 4, they all got a lot less wrist time. Still I love what I have and I haven't sold one in years. I could live with the illusion of a fractured wrist, the Tank Asymetrique is beautiful!

Some of it may speak to the quality of lack thereof, but also what I find disturbing is the customer service - lack of contact/lack of follow up - essentially leaving the owner in the dark. Any watch (or other product) can have a problem/and or need a repair, but it is how the company handles...

    Cars We Drive!

Don't over think it, get a Porsche Cayman or Boxster from 2009 or newer with a manual transmission - simple and reasonably inexpensive to maintain. Good looking, quick, fun to drive, comfortable, plenty of dealerships and independents for service, enough space for bags to take the Mrs for a...

:inlove: That's a real beauty! Tanks and their variations are some of my favorite watches!

Very cool rally footage !!! Although, I'd be afraid to try that in a Triumph!!! ;) :rotflmao:

    Cars We Drive!

That is hillarious! Did you get your car serviced at the old Gaston Andrey dealership in Framingham? I remember going there in the mid 90s when they were an authorized dealer for Ferrari, Saab, and I think Alfa although Alfa wasn't brining in any new cars by then so they just serviced them...

    Cars We Drive!

Yes, these cars were a disaster. 2 people at work had them and they constantly had expensive problems. My Dad's friend bought one brand new and dumped it after 2 years because it had all sorts of issues. It was always going in for repairs, which was a real headache even though the repairs...

Such a cool piece of family history! I love that you have the original warranty showing when and where it was purchased!

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Well, I've seen guys who are in the watch industry who have predicted watches will go down in size. We have actually seen that with the Cartier Tank Louis. The large size is smaller than the Tank XL models offered from about 2008 to 20016. In addition, their Santos de Cartier is not as large...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I agree completely. The font on the 3448 is more attractive, and looks less cookie cutter/stamped than the 5396. Yes, rather sad that they keep going into their archives and delivering less attractive versions of their prior works. Still, there are people who will buy anything if it has the PP...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I've never owned one, but always loved the old DR watches. Such beautiful dials and the case is so distinctive! A friend has a watch from Daniel Roth's current company, a rose gold JDN tourbillon, which is beautiful. However, to me without that signature DR case, something is missing.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

My only issue with the 3448, is the lugs are not my favorite. However, maybe their more compact and angular appearance works better with the look of the recessed crown. To me it's dial is so much more appealing than that of the 5396. I do prefer the lugs of the 5396, but maybe its because...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Well value, can be different to different people. There can be really good watches in a variety of price ranges. I know a person who has a Seiko Tuna for swimming and harsh environments, but he also owns a Lange for evenings out, and dressier occasions. Completely different purpose and price...
