    Okay, I think that’s a fair compromise.

First, the work you did looks absolutely fantastic. As for the leather... yeah, wow. Not good. These look like they’re right from the tail-end of the Grangaard era (gold-lettering on an unnecessary heel liner), when the (second) private equity firm was trying to unload AE, and they were at peak...

Interesting, I didn’t know that (regarding batteries). As for average watchmakers and watch repair, in general, most shops aren’t very good nowadays. That’s actually what got me into it from a hobby standpoint. I loved collecting antique pocket watches, but servicing them with folks who really...

I feel like you really should have to walk into the store, if for no other reason than to prove that you can.

Well, my guess would be a metal-link elastic, like those Speidel makes. But that’s just a guess. I’ll also say that, while past the time period of most of the watches I work on (e.g ~1880-1930), the Accutron movement is considered pretty collectible; an interesting direct predecessor to quartz...

Damn, those are ridiculously cool... and you answered the question of “can I re-dye sharkskin”.

Funky 70’s shoes? The only place those masterpieces were being worn, during the 70’s, was possibly on the set of the lugubrious and odious 1974 version of the Great Gatsby (the only good thing about that dismally miscast drag was Ralph Lauren’s beautiful, if highly inaccurate, menswear). [IMHO...

I think this qualifies as being almost a good idea. (Edit: You know, like drive through liquor stores.)

Heh, I remember when Macklemore dropped this.

Nice C&J’s. But seriously, how the hell are those a goodwill find?! It’s just nuts the stuff you find out there.

This is why I’m super hesitant with stuff like vintage alligator, and other exotic hides. It’s often hard to spot degraded/failing uppers until it’s too late. Very frustrating, given the premium often demanded by sellers’.

Consigned to a reputable seller? Hell no. I’m taking my shoes to the great beyond: they’re getting buried with me. Of course, this may well mean that I end up in a landfill in Staten Island, but these are the sacrifices we have to make.

Though you might have dodged a bullet. Something about that leather and dye-job looks highly suspect. I’m not sure that leather is what it appears to be (though I could be wrong).

What are those Randolphs doing at goodwill?!? They’re only like 3-4 years old and look like they don’t even have all that much wear on them! What, do people just drop 6 bills on a pair of shell loafers, then throw them in the goodwill bin after they get a bit dusty?

Wow!!! He did a beautiful job with those. Edit: You need moar saddle shoes.

I was really hoping for Michael Avenatti because, while he might be a convicted felon and the worst dirtbag lawyer on planet earth, anyone who attempts to extort the hive of villainy that is Nike can’t be all bad.
