• CALLING ON HOME SEWERS TO HELP HEALTHCARE WORKERS FIGHTING COVID-19

The lack of proper masks, gowns, and eyewear equipment is making it difficult for health workers to do their work fighting the novel coronavirus. In a recent New York Times article, medical workers said they were worried about how they can both fight the coronavirus without imperiling themselves, as well as their loved ones when they go back home.

If you are a home sewer, please consider helping my joining Hickey Freman Technical Vice President Jeffery Diduch in his effort to produce and deliver homemade gowns and masks to medical professionals in the greater Rochester, New York Area. Read about how you can help here

100%. I didn't have time to look at them carefully in the store but it's obvious on the pictures. But hey, "Ghillies" - I learned something new thanks to that :)

I just came across this interesting pair of Bostonian Classics made in US. I left them behind (already have 2 pairs of corrected leather...) but these are funny. Sorry for the bad first picture quality. Not only someone had them with huge tinseled lases but the lace guard (?) construction is...

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Just came across my first McHale shoes. In a tough shape so I left them behind (now, on the picture they look kind of OK, maybe I made a mistake). Only mentioning because the left one had "damaged" marked on the sole. Factory seconds? :) I really didnt find any "damage" just the heavy wear.

I badly need community help on these ones. I picked up this pair of Orion shoes, that I believe to be sharkskin. They appear to be unworn, the owner claimed they are at list 30 years old. Mint original condition other than sole, heels and toes protectors (a bit of an overkill in my opinion but...

So many beautiful shoes on the forum in these couple of days! I picked up (saved?) These interesting Florsheim made in Canada today. What's interesting the left one has Ingledews mark on the insole. I like the soles on these. Uppers ehhh, dont know, stitched brogues do not exite me, as well as...

The old ones are actually gorgeous! All with different mechanisms from the past... all three in size...

VV treated me today with a set of time appropriate shoe-trees. In my case they screwed up and priced them low. The lower pair does not look old but it marked "Dack". Could I resists? ))

As stated on the sole, US of A and my size :) I am a sucker for these heavy American shoes (not that I have anything against slim fancy Italian ones ...) One correction though - hate to post on the phone - I wanted to say "without anything made in Canada", because I did get two pairs of...

I thought 50% weekend will end up without anything but in the last moment these lovely pair just jumped of the shelf at me (or maybe it was me snatching them off lightning like :-). Florsheim made in Canada 10.5D. I couldn't find another pair like this on ebay. The last one is Bostoninan...

Thank you for this hint! I am packed on shoe-trees - seems that VV put out a new pair everytime I buy one, but laces I definitely mist to look for.

My God! I would never make myself to put them on. Have Florsheim in NOS and keep looking at them in like "maybe when the weather gets better" excuse :-). And those are made in India. England 30s, incredible, fantastic shoes!

I was skeptical myself picking them up but kind of developed a likening at list working on them. Feel sorry I have no reason to keep them. But I see what you mean.

Coming back to these. Here they are after some love and a LOT of conditioning applied (glycerin treatment, two rounds of Lexol and one of Venetian balm, also used Lexol cleaner which is a kind of a conditioner). I called them semi-seriously as a camel ones, mostly because of the color. I do...

I hoped ((. They only have this undecodable - for me - Cheaney codes. Well, I picked them cheap and enjoying planning with them anyway (just rapped them in glycerin).
