    OFFICIAL Simon Crompton thread (PermanentStyle.com)

Shockingly low. But very interesting, thanks. Got a link?

    The Taobao retailers thread

Thanks, I will check out Remains and Wanr. I got a pair of jeans from Simon Lynch once, and they were very soft and comfortable, but they were just too short and I had to donate them (my fault, I didn't read the sizing chart).

    The Taobao retailers thread

For those of us with easy access to Taobao, I thought it'd be good to compile a list of brands we've tried. I've tried the following brands: 1. Caroline Murat - wonderful styling and quality. I have a Balmacaan, a trench, 2 MTM shirts, a few polos, and a few scarves from them. The only downside...

    Solaro sportcoat?

I'm considering making a Solaro sportcoat. (No plans for making a Solaro suit). However, 99% of the pictures I see of Solaro tailoring online are of Solaro suits. Is there a particular reason why Solaro odd jackets seem to be rare? Has anyone owned a Solaro sportcoat? Do you think it would...

Why do these lapels look too narrow?

MTM jacket. Lapels are 3.25 inches. Shoulder is 45cm. Chest is 100cm. By my measurements, the widest point of the lapel is more than the halfway point across the chest. So why does the lapel still feel too narrow? I can think of a few reasons: 1. Gorge shape is weird 2. Collar is too small 3...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Generaly thoughts on this parka? I like the styling but the faux fur throws me off, I've had bad experiences with faux fur, not sure if it'll look icky after a few wears. Thx.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Thanks, Derek. That sounds fantastic. I assume that the weight never feels too overbearing/too much? (I'd assume not, since it's just a 10% difference compared to a 350g linen...)

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Thinking of getting a 379 gram (13.36oz) linen for a sportcoat. I love my thick linens, all my jackets are 340-350g linens (some Irish linen 340gs seem sturdier and thicker than 350g ones). Anyone have experience with such a thick linen? Any concerns? Thanks.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Thanks, classicalthunde and Markus. Markus, do you find that the high amount of silk renders your jacket not as breathable? Breathability is a big concern for me. Thanks.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Anyone ever have something made up of a large percentage of silk? I'm looking at a 300g jacketing 60% linen 40% silk. Not sure how it'll wear.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Anyone have recommendations for Taobao cloth sellers (I'm very happy with Chinese mills) with cloth with nice patterns? Recently bought some plain linen jacketing and wool/cashmere overcoating for CMT, but would be great if anyone has experience with good stores etc - it's a pain to look...

    The Overcoat Thread

Thoughts on a 500g/sqm 75% wool 25% cashmere overcoat for a place with winters of 12-18 Celsius (54-64 F)? Too warm?

    Overcoating weight

I'm in HK so Nov-Feb is around 14-24 Celsius. Coldest days (late Dec and Jan) prob around 14-21 on average. I get cold easily. I'm looking at new overcoating fabrics. Found a beautiful 500g 75% wool 25% cashmere. Currently have a 600g 70% wool 30% polyester balmacaan that I wear all the...
