They break in enough to be semi-comfortable after half a dozen wearings, and then you have what are, for the price, my favorite pair of casual boots. It was worth it for me, but I can't speak for you.- Vidi

My advice would be to use a black cream polish and a lot of care/time, perhaps running over the stitching with neutral cream ahead of time and then avoiding it with the black cream. i pretty much have to undo almost all the laces to get my foot in these (because of how the tongue is connected for these boots, undoing all the laces loosens the leather near the bottom the laces so i have enough room to slip in), is this normal? and the boot is a little roomy near the toebox...- Vidi

In my opinion the discolouration is not that big of a deal, as it will fade in with the finish after a few polishes.
