That's correct, the leather used on the 405 and 401 is full-grain cowhide leather. We categorize them under Calfskin in our categories/filters for search reasons (have you ever searched for cowhide boots?), but the cowhide is noted in the description. Makes sense to me! I'm not sure I'd call it a dark gray, but I'll defer to forum members that have recently purchased Earth Chamois for that. We haven't carried it recently and both suede and chamois tend to have batch to batch color variations due to the way the material absorbs the dye.- theshoemart

After unlacing and re-lacing 12 different boots 6 times each in one day, our marketing and photo department reports that the round laces are more efficient. The flat waxed laces look smart when done correctly, but lacing and unlacing them without twisting them certainly takes up extra time.- theshoemart

We would recommend you stick with the size you have now. We generally recommend to go TTS with Indy Boots, and to size one half size down if you are in between sizes--and it's for this very reason.
