    Abso-freakin-lutely. I'm getting down to four (maybe five) pairs of boots: black, brown, dressy, and a pair of natty shell. One pair of suede chukkas. Cutting down on "dress" shoes is going to be harder but I'm trying to cut my collection in half. Maybe even cut it down by two thirds...

    Simple is underrated. I've been downsizing/streamlining my collection due to life changes and I'm finding myself gravitating towards more of the "understated" (as my wife calls it) look. Between that and focusing on fit it's becoming a lot easier to grab a pair and go.

    I’ll admit envy here. I sold my landsharks due to fit issues and wish I’d voted for Higgins. So far, there are two AE lasts that fit me well. The 333 and the 1757. I was a fan of the 201 for a while but eventually realized it just felt sloppy and thick socks only sorta made up for it.

    Satel’s on Broadway had a small selection last I checked. There’s also a stockist in Austin but they have a very limited selected too when I inquired.

    I’d say ask over in the Alden thread. They might have an idea. It’s a fairly common practice for Alden fans to remove an acrylic layer from their shell boots.

    I’ve heard that a few other brands also have problems with their commando-equivalent sole option. It’s a real head scratcher to me that brands in these price points know about the issue but still put it out there.
