The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Landed this amazing haul on eBay! 12 Brooks Brothers Makers silk regimental & striped ties for $85 total including shipping (half are gently used, the others still had tags). These are timeless designs and each one is desirable. They would cost $75 per tie at retail!

Discovering the virtues of an electric shoe polisher ...

I purchased an ultra-cheap battery-powered shoe polisher kit set from Amazon (Made in China) just to test the concept. I would not recommend it. It does a great job of polishing toe caps quickly but is so cheaply made that it may not last a month. I am now bidding on a couple of vintage units on...

Discovering the virtues of an electric shoe polisher ...

I recently purchased an electric shoe polisher after acknowledging to myself that I don't have the patience to do a true mirror shine ... on 20 pairs of shoes ... Two light coats of neutral Saphir Mirror Gloss Wax on the toe cap and a quick buffing and I'm good to go. I get better results...

What Movies Are You Watching Lately

I watched an interesting documentary on Jack Taylor, who provided bespoke suits for many stars, including Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra. A very colorful figure who gave lots of celebrities sartorial style! "Jack Taylor of Beverly Hills" can be seen on Amazon Prime (I will not add a link as it...

    Wearing full suit during summer

    WAYWRN: Classic Menswear, Casual Style

This is one of my favorite thrifting finds of all time! This is a 100% linen belted safari jacket purchased new with tags on eBay for only $18.00. The brand is Kingsley & Hawkins. It is utterly comfortable and cool, much cooler than a cotton safari jacket. Its a great replacement for a blue...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

The temperature hit 61 degrees today. Far as I'm concerned that's all the excuse I need to break out my Panama style hat and vintage safari jacket. That hat will stay on my head for the 6 months...
