Totally get it. Post a pic when your mod is done! I was just having a laugh as I consider the Filson tote to be a perfectly designed object. But even I stuck a little bookstore pin into mine to make it my own....

I use one of the now-discontinued Grab-n-Go totes for my gym bag and am quite happy with it. It's lightweight, has good exterior pockets for car keys and water bottle, and best of all, the inside is nylon and can be easily wiped down. I'm not sure rugged twill and gym stank is a good combo, but...

Made in America news re: Filson-adjacent bag maker J.W. Hulme, maker of the famous Gokey bags. https://www.startribune.com/after-a-customer-revolt-leathermaker-j-w-hulme-returns-to-its-made-in-u-s-heritage/600227107/

It's incredible how handy and useful the plain ol' zippered tote is. I use it as my EDC "briefcase" for work, but it's fantastic for weekend leisure travel, you could even use it as a workout bag, etc. Lightweight, great pockets, perfect length shoulder straps. Bought mine more than 15 years...

Interview with Filson Creative Director in A Continuous Lean newsletter. A lot of mushy creative director gobbledygook. He does sort of address the Made in USA thing and fate of manufacturing in Seattle toward the end...

An important question for this group: What's the best Filson bag for carrying and storing even more Filson bags? I'm going to argue for the discontinued Filson Large Grab n' Go Tote. I've been able to store up to three additional Filson totes and briefcases inside of this one Filson bag, with...

One parallel in my mind is what happened to Orvis and their once-amazing Battenkill and Gokey bags, which used to be expertly made in Minnesota by the craftspeople of the J.W. Hulme factory. Orvis moved production to China to slash costs and the bags have been crap ever since. I guess the...

Among those Filson-adjacent brands sometimes praised on this channel, like Vermilyea Pelle, is Seil Marschall, which is based in Germany. Snagged this puppy on eBay after making the seller an offer. It's SM's version of the 261. Anyone else use their rugged bags to store other rugged bags...

Another +1 on the Denim Cruiser. That looks fantastic. It pains me I am unable to fit into Filson clothes. Even their "Seattle Fit" (RIP) was tent-like on me. I just noticed this Filson fanny pack for the first time. I'm sure there's probably some legitimate way outdoorsmen are using this...

Great points. Yeah, I was originally thinking about luggage only, and wondering whether most people's Tin Cloth luggage color preferences (Navy > Green > Tan) is the opposite of most people's Rugged Twill color preferences (Tan > Green > Navy).

So what is the consensus on which colors patina the best in Tin Cloth, like on a 24 Hour Briefcase? Does it go Navy, Otter Green, and Tan last? It seems like it might be the opposite order of Rugged Twill.
