    Church's Appreciation Thread

It might be good value but Church's often depressed on resale; their image took a hit post Prada acquisition, making them, IMO, often one of the great CM footwear bargains on Ebay. You are on vacation and the purchase is part of an exotic menswear expedition, so I wouldn't worry about bargain...

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Surprised me the first time I noticed it. Might ask on the Alden thread. My guess: Alden is a little chunky/"rustic Ivy" vs. a number of other prominent brands; AE, vintage Florsheim, C & J, Church's. Some don't find them suit appropriate (an opinion with which I strongly disagree); hence...

    MC General Chat

Yup, very refined, subtle, and unusual color palette. Don’t know how many folks other than mormonmonopoly actually wear Spectators outside these days. Speaking of Spectators; the opening sequence of Strangers on a Train, the definitive CM footwear scene in film history:

    Briefcase Appreciation thread

Looking very good for a decade on planes. The thing about bridle leather is that it really goes the distance; probably could pass it on to the next generation.

    The Official Dieworkwear Appreciation Thread

The Korean guy looks great. I didn't even recognize CM. A little googling indicated that he said that he had gained 100 pounds above his initial fighting weight of about 155, having been out with an injury for a couple of years. Of course Die Workwear may not follow MMA closely...

    Official Fountain Pen Aficionados Thread

A couple of ways to look at this. Fifteen years from now all the expensive childhood toys you might buy will be gone with the wind. The Japanese ceramics and FP's, in contrast, can be yours forever.

    The Overcoat Thread

Doesn't look too real to my eye. Sort of the "Real Butter" version of Astrakhan.

    Official Fountain Pen Aficionados Thread

To edinatlanta's point, they're cheap. My current DW's are: Parker Vacumatic, Pelican 140, and Parker 75. I keep all inked and usually use all daily (different color inks. I often color code edits, marginal notations, etc.). The three are on some lists of top ten models all time. They cost...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Dress watches probably the best options for that 6" wrist size. If you are willing to buy vintage there are many .32-.35 mm vintage dress watches available for half or so what a larger vintage watch would go for.

Importance of full canvas vs half canvas?

Oops! You are correct, I was referring to half lined. My mistake. All of my jackets are fully canvassed, so I can't fully address the actual question you asked. Great to see brands seeking this sort of customer feedback though (ex Pepsi brand manager here). Somehow I seem to be able to make a...

Importance of full canvas vs half canvas?

I always thought of half canvas as incomplete or a cost cutting measure until I started buying Oxxford, where it is clearly a design choice. I can go either way now. I sometimes prefer half canvas for the So Cal heat.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Agree on under appreciated, particularly as it was a Rolex take on the integrated bracelet roughly contemporaneous with the Royal Oak and Nautilus. I find it a very attractive "different" Rolex design, one that works better in gold & stainless than many other watches do. The major problem...

    Carhartt clothing

I am a little surprised it doesn't get more attention on this board, given that it is workwear worn by people who actually need workwear for their work.

    Official Fountain Pen Aficionados Thread

I enjoy the haptics of cursive writing with a FP and it helps me to think better on certain topics. Don't take my word for it though, it's science: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/handwriting-brain-connections-learning

    Timeless/old money Three Piece suit

I agree on these comments, although I also like SRS. His history/background on most of his topics is excellent and generally thorough, IMO. I also like his providing most of his major topics in both print and video. Different people have different preferred styles of learning. To the OP, I...
