I agree, my view is no doubt biased by my own preferences; I admit as much in my comment. Surely SM knows their business better than I do! They do have a tendency to be very responsive to comments on SF. If you like the SF-style, that's clearly a benefit. It does create the impression that...

Catching up on this thread, I'll add my two cents. I wonder whether the net effect of Styleforum-suggestions on SM has been good or bad. Personally, I've gone from buying a couple of trousers and jackets a season to none in the last few seasons. Trousers were the first things I bought at SM...

I'm consigning a bunch of items that are ending tomorrow. I thought I might point out a few here: Everyone's into the outdoorsy fisherman aesthetic. This long bill J. Peterman cap fits in well with that: https://www.ebay.com/itm/353576423221 Likewise with this Stormy Kromer cap. USA-made...

I like some of these novelty leathers that you've been doing by preorder. Any chance of doing something in a shoe, rather than a boot? The kangaroo has an interesting texture and seems like it would make a nice Derby or Longwing.

I have that AE belt and the color in person is much darker than online. In tone it is similar to GS's coffee suede or possibly the 'maduro'.

I'm new to the MTO program having just received my first order, but I'm very pleased with it. I put in an order in late September and received it today. So, it took about 2 months. The fit came out great. I'm between a 42 and 44 contemporary, so I usually opt for the 44 on the assumption that...

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

I thrifted this Valstar corduroy field jacket recently and was initially pretty excited about it. Then I found the materials tag later and noticed it's polyester. So, now I'm not sure whether it's a nice find or not so great. Practically, I guess it doesn't really matter as I like the way it...

How hard is it to shorten the sleeves on a Sinclair/Doyle jacket? I find them to be 2" too long, but with the working button I'm not sure who can do that kind of work. The lady at the dry cleaners does a great job with my suit sleeves, but I'm not sure she could handle this. Maybe I am wrong.

Have the opposite problem - the sleeves are too long. I wish there was an option in the MTO to shorten by more than 1", as that didn't make much difference.

Happy New Year. I was wondering when the custom Doyle's from November are expected to be ready? Have a good trip.

I hope that things will continue to be posted here rather than just on instagram. I'm sure instagram is good for pictures, but I find it impossible to find anything on there. Sometimes I see someone mention instagram on this thread and I go over there to try to find out what they're talking...

As a matter of fact, I had the same thought and ordered the 8track last night as a Sinclair. Really looking forward to that. I share your enthusiasm for the Sinclair. I was surprised by Mike's comments a while back that the Sinclair didn't sell well. I think it's a versatile shape and is...

The Grain Ottawa boots are excellent, as expected. Been wearing them a lot and the sizing advice to go up to an E from a D worked perfectly. Thanks. The blue suede pics look great too. I think the GS shade of blue is really very nice and I prefer it to some of the other examples that have been...

A question about sizing: I am considering to get a GS boot this Fall and I have bluchers in the Leo last that are very comfortable in a 9.5D. They are very snug on the sides (I am not sure of the exact word for this perhaps the waist of the shoe, or the quarters). As I tend to wear boots in cool...
