Yes! Those look well-designed: the stitching and brass eyelets compliment one-another perfectly. I really like contrast and tonal stitching, just depends on the particular boot and purpose. My tan ones, for example, are almost returned to off-white stitching just from brushing them and I'm...

Definitely! I love the look of that PAC Indy. The cream and wax also darkened the welt, which I guess is kind of a fast-track patina that might be frowned-upon by some. But again, I really prefer it. Here's the PAC, for those who might be wondering:

The white stitching definitely makes the boot much more casual, in my opinion. For my needs, taking the stitching dark works better. It can always go back to contrast later with some careful q-tip work, but even then I don't like the stitching bright white.

First wear of my newly acquired 405 calf boots in brown. I think these are from 2010. They're the classic, much truer brown color than the current tan 405 ones that I have. I also noticed the interior heel construction is different. On the older ones there's a dark brown heel cup liner in...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

Hey all, I've decided to sell my Purdey Islay boots on here, in case anyone is interested. It came down to the fact that I'm preferring to wear thicker socks with my boots, which I can't do with these (too much pinky toe rub). Otherwise amazing boots. Size 7UK, about 10 wears...

I'd love to know more about the insoles--are these the ones? Did you size up and trim to fit? How have they held up? Thanks!

The reason I ask is because I had a pair of 403 and currently have a pair of 405. The 403 CXL fit was originally ideal, but over a short time the eyelets ended up to where they were almost touching--enough that the boots felt too large and I had to sell them. The 405 appear to be keeping close...

Hey all, I posted on the main Alden thread, but it's specifically Indy 404 related so... I recently came across a description of Alden's Kudu leather as "chromexcel Kudu," which was news to me. This was on Shoe Mart's website. I realize it's not actual antelope, but was wondering if the Alden...

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2018 - News, Pictures, Clothing, Accessories, etc.

I appreciate the advice. For years I wore J&M dress shoes in 8.5, and I fit well in Alden's shell boots at JCrew in 8D with thin dress socks--medium socks on that boot and it was too tight in the throat area. That's on the Barrie last, and I could have gone 8.5 with medium or heavy socks. I've...
