Dacks and other Canadian shoe brands

Anyone ever see a pair of original Dack’s that wasn’t Goodyear welted? I have a pair I’m selling, and i would feel terrible if they weren’t welted if I claim they are. Made in Fredricton, no discernible stitch, but I just can’t see them going the cemented route, even in the 90s.

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

I dropped $460CDN on a non-shell model. When I compare to the $450 AE’s in my closest, the Florseims were a steal.

Our May Long is looking to be typically ****** boot weather. Might as well get a head start.

I really should wear these more often. Maybe not with dark blue jeans though.

Everyone’s glorious shell models are giving these calf Macs an inferiority complex. Maybe it’s the silly laces...

@Shoonoob Have you ever needed to ‘topcoat’ your dyes? I did use some resolene on some belts I did, but these shoes have nothing on them. So far no wear issues regarding the dye, but I haven’t been caught in the rain yet. FWIW, these were unfinished crust. And do you use regular Fiebing dye, or...

Boots Boots Boots - For Boot Guys Only

Snow is just water, and there's no salt out in the park. These dainite soles and grained leathers have seen worse. When it snows >8 months, I have little use for boots that can't be boots :)

Give denatured alcohol (shellac/lacquer thinner) a try? You may have to really soak the leather and wipe a lot, but in my experience it pulls up dye well.

Herring (by Cheaney) Langdale. Spring snow, walking the dog, fighting off a sure hangover, and Tom Waits. Moral of the story? Love those you have while you have them, otherwise you end up walking in a snow storm in the early morning...in style. Good night friends.

NPS Heath. I thought I’d do a quick blurb, because there really isn’t much in the way of info on these guys. 002 Last - 8UK. Footbed size pretty true. I take a 9D in most AE, 8 in Cheaney 175, Barker 460 for comparison. Be warned, the volume up the throat is ridiculously large. I do not...

Hating my wardrobe lately. Time for some serious investment in jeans, but I have a hell of a time finding stuff I like. This pair has shrunk and turned awfully ugly in the wash. Good thing these PromPoints are on point.

Not sure if this should maybe be a ‘makers’ question? Thoughts on sealant after dyeing leather? Many leatherworkers suggest Resolene (or other acrylic based products), but it seems to me this would essentially be like adding a clear coat, and seal the pores of the leather? Do you guys recommend...
