    What is your favorite aftershave?

I am shocked it took so long for this post.

$1500 for a new suit what do I do?

If it is your first suit, at that budget I would definitely go with a brick-and-mortar outfit. Unless you are terribly difficult to fit, Ralph Lauren, Paul Stuart, or something at that quality/price point ought to be able to put you in a damn nice suit. Look for deep discounts later. Pay a...

    Question about Piombo and Yoox

I bought a winter-weight double breasted Piombo blazer from Yoox a year or so ago, size 48/38. It came with cheap plastic buttons that I swapped for some real-deal French made horn buttons. It is one of my favorite pieces and I wish it was three season weight so I could wear it more often. As...

Bespoke Linen Blazer from Sicily - Comments Please

Sleeve length agreed. Other than that, I think it looks quite nice as-is. I'd probably add two buttons and make it a 6x2, but that's just my personal preference.

Jacket length -- too short or too long?

^^^^ I disagree. The whole short jacket thing (along with high-water trousers) is going to be a laughable abomination in a few years.

The official “How Do You Beat the Heat” thread.

Today DC is gorgeous. I ran the mall at 11 to beat the foul weather and damn near collapsed after 7 miles. I can't wait to leave this swamp.

Peal for Brooks - CJ or AS

Tip: single row of nails = C&J; double row = AS. Teach a man to fish, right?

Blue suit with rope stripe acceptable for a legal interview?

^^^^ Agreed. Just do your homework on the people who are interviewing you and have a few good questions canned.

Grasshopper, What Sartorial Lessons Have You Learned?

    Fewer high quality garments FTW.

I think I want to stop wearing sport coats

I'm with you Spoo. The only items on my next year's purchase list are new suits and replacement suits. No more SCs, PSs, or other items that tend to complicate my wardrobe. Of late I'm tending towards simple variations of navy/grey/charcoal suits + blue/white based shirts + soporific ties...

    Charcoal or Blue Suit?

In a general sense, both are equally versatile. I respond only to discourage you from buying either of those specific suits. If versatility is what you seek, do not buy a suit with hacking pockets. And at that price, those suits are no bargain.

The Official Vanda Fine Clothing Thread

Nice. Is it appropriate to ask how much they cost?

Bought two new suits today, need advice on tailoring the fit.

These are terrible. The tailoring needed to fix those jackets (assuming your chosen tailor can do the job) would cost as much if not more than what you spent on the suits themselves. For the cost of both suits, plus outsourced alterations, you could go to Brooks and pick up one 1818 suit on...

Do you wear a jacket while sitting?

I, too, keep my jacket on in the office. I am the subject of much ridicule for that fact. But haters gonna hate.

    Double Breasted Style.

^^^^ To my eye, it looks too small.
