Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

I live in Georgia and the only men who are on the receiving end of my harsh sartorial judgment are those who go about in public wearing pajama bottoms paired with shorts.

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

I thought about this thread from last year today as I put on my pair of Astorflex Beenflex. They work for me in the summer when I don't want to wear sneakers or a pair of Birkenstocks with shorts on an extremely hot day in Atlanta (like today).

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

A shoe I increasingly like is the Greenflex chukka boot made by Astorflex in Northern Italy.

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

Well, I was an outlier in my fraternity but I was in good company as those were the Golden Days of RL.

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

I am on board for a cheap pair of Clark desert boots this summer a la Anthony Bourdain.

I don't either as loafers with shorts are what I would have worn as a frat boy.

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

I lived in Asia (Japan) for many years and found that men there, the better-dressed ones anyway, often take up a look that can best be described as "costumey."

Shoes, Shorts, and Summer sans Sneakers and Sandals

The desert boots DO work well with shorts, and Clarks are dirt cheap anyway. I lived in Tokyo for many years and now live in Atlanta, so know the struggle well. Looking like a "jerk" is certainly possible in Tokyo as well with a generic short-sleeve dress shirt and tie ...

Can You Identify Jeremy Irons' Hat?

Does anyone recognize the hat Jeremy Irons' (or one similar to it) is wearing in this photo and is able to point me to a retailer?

Are you the best dressed person at your job?

Yes, American men get that conditioning, don't they? It isn't a global phenomenon, however, which is why I enjoyed living in Japan as long as I did. Dress nicely in America and you are considered gay.

Are you the best dressed person at your job?

I lived and worked in Japan for 15 years and while I do miss that culture's appreciation of stylish men, most "salarymen" wear their required suits as if they were that same 16-year-old boy wearing their high school uniform.

Are you the best dressed person at your job?

No, I did not see him as a competent realtor or a competent anything. Actually, I had met him before and assumed he owned a construction company and did much of the work himself. He may as well had told me he was a brain surgeon who had just left the operating room as a realtor who had just left...

Are you the best dressed person at your job?

I met a man recently who told me he was a realtor who had just returned from a closing. He was dressed, and I kid you not, in shorts with brown cowboy boots and a tee. He said it worked for him and what could I say to that?
