Color and style sportscoat to go with dark navy trousers?
Navy trousers can look very stylish and classy. I would pair it with a grey sportcoat for a sleek look. For a more standout look, maybe try a light khaki blazer.- JoziKilos

Opinion on penny loafers
I wouldn't wear loafers with a suit to work, or at any formal place. If you're going casual, then loafers would work, especially if you're going with a younger more modern look.- JoziKilos

OK so general consensus is avoid a tee shirt, stick with a unbuttoned white shirt. If I had to do a tee, then round neck. Maybe try and all black ensemble... White dress shirt, black shoes. The t-shirt thing only works if you are very fit and at least a little muscular. Otherwise it just looks too casual.
