buying oxford for the first time

The quality of menswear for price (ie value) has vastly increased since just a few years ago, so brand names don't carry as much weight as they used to. So, you should be able to get a very high quality Oxford shoe for under $500. In general, Italian construction is still the best, so any brand...

3 piece suit for my wedding: how many buttons on a double-breasted waistcoat?

4 x 2 is always a reasonable choice. Depends on how formal your wedding is. 6 x 2 is good if you're doing this at a palace or some high society event.

Protecting white clothes from (inevitable) stains?

First off, a white blazer is a brave (and very expensive) choice for cleaning and maintenance. Your only real bet here is for any form of either external or bio-stain is to get it dry cleaned.

What does a summer gentleman's wardrobe look like?

subtropical, then you can't go wrong with a lightweight set of cotton/wool blend blazers, polos, a few ginghams/chambray casual dress shirts, and 1 blue, 1 khaki/brown chinos, and maybe some leather slip-on shoes.

After work drinks with work colleagues

Depends on who these "colleagues" are. If its just your work friends, then wear anything you want. If its an after-work sales or investor thing, then yes, dark blazer/suit, any lighter color dress shirt, white pocket square, and/or chinos/jeans and driving mocs or dark oxfords would be in order...

6ft tall, slim (160lbs), and classy euro fit - what brands?

Don't get hung up too much on brands, as fitted and excellently tailored clothing options over the last decade have exploded. Focus first on your body type, use case, and your age. If you truly have an Obama-like slim frame at 6", you've got plenty of selection online, if Dubai's store's aren't...

Should blazer always have color contrast with shirt?

Yeah, generally darker dress shirts scream mafia nightclub owner (esp. black). Your best rule for a casual professional look is to pair a lighter shirt (chambray, gingham, plain color, or white) with a darker jacket. Contrast rules have been relaxed recently but in general, avoid similar design...

    Corporate photoshoot outfit

The headshot outfit is very important as a representation of your company culture. It must represent the common dress code for the profession you're in, your position in the org chart, and the size of the organization. For ex., if you work at a small-mid startup where every employee is...

    Menswear for italy

Sounds from the thread like you're doing a casual tourist trip, not power-lunching with Silvio Berlusconi. Like Maxalex pointed out, the only town in Italy that really conforms to the formal code these days would be Milan (fashion town). I'd suggest a light poplin jacket (blue or any tan/light...

    Pink Seersucker

Agreed. With the blazer look, you want sufficient contrast to avoid washout unless you're really going for that Rhode Island yacht club look with the rope belt and topsiders. Any light or dark blue (or jeans) to red chino- all solids- should be fine. Pattern only on either top OR bottom, not both.

    Trousers advice

At a 32/33, looks like you have pretty trim athletic lower proportions. If you've got the cyclist quads and thinner calves, the "french cuff" or any very tapered ankle may look kind of funny if you want to the pants for formal workwear. Rule of thumb is to be as trim as possible but straight leg...

    Tweed advice needed

With the prices for suiting dropping precipitously over the last few years bc of popularity and much better machine construction for mass market sale, you can buy a bespoke quality pure wool blazer these days for $300 or less. Brooks Bros and very high cost label suits were popular in the '80s...

Is it okay to fold jacket into half and hang on the back of chair?

Sure. Anything with some thickness (chair, couch, etc.) is fine. The only jacket hanging that's not advisable is a wire hanger. Because its so thin, it can drag down the shoulder thickness and misform the drape over time.

Is a leather strap watch too dressy for jeans?

Here are the understood universal rules for watch/clothes pairing: 1. a brown leather strap watch is the most "accessorizeable" and always in style with jeans and a blazer, shorts, any color suit, and any type of non-athletic shoes (loafers, keds, canvas, brown oxfords, mocs- all are fine) 2. a...
