    For what it's worth, I'm a 40" chest and I bought a 52 and did the aforementioned 'rugged' wash that Nigel himself suggests. This took it down half a size and softened up the Harris Tweed nicely. Very happy with result.

    I'm a 42" chest, normally take a Large in outerwear. Took Oi Polloi's advice and sized up to the XL on the Motorbike Shirt jacket. Amazing jacket and fits great on me, can post fit pics if anyone interested.
