Sorry, I forgot to mention that - the cowboy boots is the work of DWFII.:) Not to say DWFII excellent make, a random pick in eBay like these vintage Lucchese boots would seem more sleeker than the Lobb's William - not apple to apple but I hope U get what I mean [ I mean even some work boots...- geeboo

Put the Q slightly differently; If i am just looking for Just these features [closer heel, closer welt around toe] in shoes for aesthetic preferences, very few modern RTW makers -almost NO - can make these so I am "forced" to "selected makers of " MTO or bespoke makers. I agree with thunder but why vintage shoes seems to have, almost always, a closer heel than modern day makers - I am also referring to vintage RTW. Blind guess, a logical deduction is modern makers use stock heel block & save the process of close trimming, therefore reducing the chance of...- geeboo

I find many vintage RTW shoes' heels are more closer to the heel cup [showing some of mine to illustrate, but I find it is generally true] whereas the more modern the make, the wider the little "step" protrude at the back and to the sides of the heel, which I think stay more closer is a more...- geeboo

ntempleman - Could you kindly show me a sculpted shoe last's bottom ? I have not seen the insole of any pair of dress shoes that has "contour" even CLOSE to that of birkenstock- while I am definitely Not saying it is the best of the world but at least it has got some whereas None of the dress...- geeboo

Noted. As for height, one cannot grow to 5'10" without being at 5'9" 1st - it is a continuation. $10 in the pocket is better than nothing before aiming for a million. To me, Birkenstock level is already better than nothing - flat insole for dress shoes. Add another point, we talk about fit in...- geeboo

A photo from a Japanese maker inspired me of a built-in orthopedic insole. That is how I modified the last, I have added 2 pads in the ball joint & the heel cup as well, hopefully to create something like the Birkenstock insole which I find very comfortable. I will pass the last to my shoe maker...- geeboo
