What is English/British Style to You?

Whereas most people's immediate thought is that of Mr Bond/Bowler-inspired hats/Emma Pill when thinking of "British style", my first thought is of Vivienne Westwood/punk/nwobhm/Malcolm McLaren. Clearly influenced by my preferred music genres. Well, this could have read "Being British is about...

The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Brei

Does anyone know who made/makes watches for tiffany's? Depends on the price range. Rolex has made a few sought after Tiffany's Daytona and Submariner, among others.

    Recommend me a Watch?

    I'd look at Tissot.

Why don't people at SF like Hugo Boss?

I own a few Hugo Boss items; the only reason I buy them (assuming I find them discounted) is the fit. In fact, I only just got back from a quick trip to the US where I picked up a Hugo Boss suit at Saks - 40% off and very good fit made it hard to resist. For some reason, Hugo Boss suits and...

    London shirtmakers

Only if you are fat. I like my shirts (and suits) "fitted" and, at just over 65 kilos, calling me fat could lead to a rather interesting discussion on the theory of relativity.

    London shirtmakers

My preference is Turnbull & Asser. Not the best value for money but I find the fit excellent. Good service, too.

    jaeger watch or atmos clock?

When looking at the whole ... I'd say NO ONE beats them ... not even Patek Philippe. Patek's finishing might be a few percentage points superior ... but in terms of JLC's inventions, design, technological abilities, etc. ... they win hands down. Patek even used JLC ebauches well into the 20th...

    jaeger watch or atmos clock?

That's an interesting dilemma... I think the Atmos might wear a bit big on my wrist though. Nice clocks, I would definitely buy one if I found myself in that situation.

This Brioni is a little much for me

Err... No. Apparently, it has stains and holes.

What to wear to GF's Birthday...

Skip the vest and any tie/bow-tie. Just wear that shirt and whatever pants you've got. You're young - make it work. What the Moo said. Oh, and I agree with the guys that said only a member of this forum would tell you to go to a bird's birthday party wearing a bow tie.

Wearing a watch during an interview. Does it say...anything?

At an interview with a well known bank, a friend was asked why he felt he had to wear the watch he was wearing. It was a two-tone Daytona with diamonds at the minute markers. Personally, I would wear something discreet; probably one with a leather strap.

Yet another IDIOT asking for others to think for him. (indecisive little a$$wipe)

The El Primero cult among some WIS is nothing short of bizarre. The ugliest watches always seem to be instantly saved by the presence of an EP movement... A fully in-house manufacture movement with far more handwork and finishing attention can never compete with "da best chrono movement evar"...

Yet another IDIOT asking for others to think for him. (indecisive little a$$wipe)

I'm sorry but I can't believe people here are recommending the GO over an El Primero. Mate, despite having gone through multiple iterations, the El Primero movement is one of the best out there and a true classic. One could argue that is the best chronograph movement currently available and with...

What is the most formal city?

Technically speaking, most of those aren't hats. They are "substantial fascinators." Seriously. They are indeed.

What is the most formal city?

Yep, that's part of the fun and I wouldn't have it any other way. While the ladies' Ascot hats will make very little sense to most, there's plenty of other sartorial elements that SF members would approve of. I take a fancy on some of the morning dresses.
