What's a good accessory for a splash of red color?

Ideas: socks, pocket square, tie, cuff links, belt, watch band, and even shoe laces: Where in NYC can I get red shoe laces??!!??!! MUST have them!

What degree subject did you do?

Masters in Music composition and theory, followed by a Masters in Physics (What? I liked school!) I'm now in Real Estate in New York, and do photography on the side...... go figure

    Dressing in all black

Jonathan Davis from KoRn. I see some color hidden in there....

    Do you have a 'signature-item'?

Never go anywhere important without my birds.... and, no, they know better than to poop on the suit!

    Split Waistband

According to my tailor, the split waist serves no real purpose, other than look. He actually has a problem with them as he see's too much stress on a small stich.

    The SF mobius strip

--> - Many new members join at once, perhaps in response to newspaper publicity. | | - Said new members ask questions that could have been answered with the search function. | | - Slightly less new members answer the question by quoting almost verbatim other | SF threads on the subject (such as...

Tailor old suits vs Buy new suits

Now, my question is: If the suits are a higher quality, say Zegna, Zileri, etc... When is it time to just buy new? The suits are all "classic" nothing trendy. The only work comes from weight changes and personal style changes as far as sleeve and waist supression. Curious..

What brand consistently meets your standards?

Pal Zileri. Not the top end, but my best fitting and all around suits! Also, Jones New York for my "Beater" suits! They seem to last and take a beating on days when I'd never wear the "good stuff"!

Lost 10-15 pounds. Suit pants HUGE. Need reasonably priced NYC tailor?

Adel at the Alteration Shop on west 34th and Fifth ave does great work at a great price!!

    Kirkland Signature dress pants

People shouldn't buy clothing in a grocery store. What next? Should people buy shoes in a bakery? Or underwear at a butcher shop? Or TVs at a bespoke tailor shop? Not to sound like a bastard, but does that mean I shouldn't buy cloting at Macy's or Bloomies, either?

Which Would You Pick & Why?

I know you already made your choice... but I'd go with #2 as well because of the tailoring.. although I do like the ticket pocket on #1

Help me understand super high prices clothes... like Tom Ford

Analogy: The oil paints in a Matisse are only worth a hundred bucks or so, max. Actually... only about $50, depending on the size... Perfect analogy, though!

Ok, I give up: Why is Kiton so expensive?

I have to put my 2 cents in here... I think it has more to do with advertising and programming than anything else. Certain brands have achieved a level of "panache" that others haven't, and the average person believes that: A) If it costs more it's worth more B) Names impress people C) Money is...

    How much for tailoring services?

I use Adel at the Alteration Shop in New York City. He does a brilliant job, and I've never paid more than $100 for a whole suit (take in the waist and cuffs on the pants, waist supression, sleeve length and collar on the jacket).

Is styleforum turning off new members?

When I first came to this board, I was flamed and insulted, but quickly understood that: A) I was asking some Noob questions, and B) there are A-holes everywhere who think that a snarky comment is cooler than answering a question. BUT...... for every snarky, flaming response, I've gotten 2-3...
