Can anyone tell me what, if anything, is special about AE belts to put them in the $100 range? Love the shoes, but I am a bit picky and looking at the stamped buckles and normal leathers I think I'm looking at maybe a 50 dollar belt when I look at them. I buy custom made belts in belting or...

I do not, but it looks a lot like the Chukkamok that I DO have, and love it- they are just extremely comfortable...

What is the absolute best leather insole to put in good shoes? Or at least top 3 if there is no discernible difference? My AE's come with good bits as is, but my RM Williams have that annoying line across the heel transition that I just can't live with- any suggestions?

Thanks for all the responses on the tap soles, very helpful. Let me ask on a different topic- Sent an email to one of the more well informed AE sales associates I have met, asked and answered below- any further information anyone can add about care and feeding for our beloved new leather...

Does anyone make a habit of buying the Combination Tap soles, and if so how does it wear? Is it thin and when it wears you have to replace it, or does it just wear down then you're left with leather? I am working and living now in the Middle East/North Africa, and all floors here are...

I own and love Saddleback stuff, but for a wallet I am a purist and a minimalist. This company makes a no-compromise pure leather wallet with no cardboard, and no nylon or anything other than quality leather in it, and they start at around fifty bucks. http://www.leathergoodsconnection.com I...

Has anyone bought a walnut shoe and successfully used a darker polish to get it more of a Bourbon color? If so can you share the exact brand and color of polish, even if it turned out a different but attractive brown? I want something darker than Walnut, but not full-out dark browns- own a...

Just for the comfort lovers out there- I tried these on side-by-side and had to go with the Chukkamok, as much as I love boots. They are unlined, and the Cronmok having that line across the instep just was not as comfortable as that smooth vamp on the Chukka- super soft leather and no seam, one...

Oh- here is the aforementioned female AE associate wearing the Fifth Avenue boots- is this cute or what?? I had to go back and buy these- DAMN they are comfortable, just the softest leather you have ever felt, had to wear them out of the store...

Since this is an appreciation thread, I hope Mr. Grangaard reads this because I would like to give a shoutout to the Atlanta store on Dunwoody, and Andrew and Soleil in particular. A company is only as good as its people, and these two were exceptional- knowledgeable (Andrew at least reads this...

You called it Wired- guess what Soleil (delightful associate in the Atlanta AE store- wears several AE shoes and boots on her tiny size 5 feet!) showed me this morning when I mentioned your shoes? This, came out about a month ago... hope you can read the "Strandmok" nameplate- in suede not...

Okay- thank you for that information! I will get back to the store right away to get those before I leave town! Too bad the Renovateur was stripping the color off them- I thought it was a cleaning product only... really glad I tested on the heel and didn't just tear into the toebox with it!!
