Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Add it to the long list of things LabelKing can make cool, but I'd never personally wear. I think there is utility in a black suit. The issue is that utility is incredibly narrow (e.g., going full-on Johnny Cash for an upscale dinner). Too often I see guys try to "substitute" black suits in...

    Alterations of sleeves from shoulders

Sid Mashburn can handle the work, as I've had them alter from the shoulder in the past. That said, to Chris's point, it was a solid navy blazer with maybe only a CM to adjust, which is an easier endeavor. I'd also recommend taking it to Teo at Flor's. I believe he did stints as both head cutter...

Looks great! Did you get a fitting for this? Or did you just provide measurements/send a garment?

While I wouldn't call myself wildly in-shape, I do think my body type (broad shoulders and pronounced chest) helps to create the coveted V-shape when shirts are worn open. I agree that if you have a narrower or less athletic frame it can look a little potato sack-like. Somewhat random, but if...

We're rapidly approaching The Dead Zone. Even for as insufferably yuppie as I am, I can't abide by the poly polos. Luckily I have plenty of try-hard alternatives at my disposal (namely bootleg band merch tees) to pair with Baggies or swim trunks.

Anything for you, Derek! :) Here's one example of each, based on what was readily hanging in the closet. The first is a muted olive, 100% linen shirt. The second, a faded blue Western shirt, is also 100% linen. The third is the traditional Polo Ralph Lauren Dungaree chambray. I buttoned them...

Nah, I'd classify them as work shirts that, due to their 90s cut, end up looking like long-sleeved "shackets." In reality just linen button-fronts with two pockets affixed to the chest. I wear them open over open-weave cotton tees or (GASP) poly-cotton tees and their baggy cuts/proportions...

I'm in the same boat, except substitute Carl's stuff for vintage linen button-fronts. I have a few double breast pocket, linen numbers from 1990s Ralph that are billowy and boxy and provide excellent breathability in summertime. A couple are even Western shirts :ducks:

There are only two realities to StyleForum: It's not as good as it used to be I can't believe I'm still posting here All posters exist in one or both of these realities at all times.

Validus, baby, why so tense? Hopefully the fish jacket puts a pep in your step and rights your mood. It sounds cool. You'll note words like "I find" and "generally" in my response. We've never met and you seem quite specific. To each their own. There just seems to be a resounding "shorts are...

Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata

I really dig the depth and visual interest of those covers. Not over-the-top jarring.

Covid accelerated dress code de-formalization - true or false?

After reading the article I have bravely decided that I will still wear a jacket the next time I go to Daniel or Le Bernardin. Please, hold your applause.

LOL at acting like you didn't know EXACTLY what kind of replies this would create. Shorts are practical and utilitarian and fun. I also generally find the "never shorts" crowd are overly formulaic dressers whose sense of dressing begins and ends at board meetings. Wearing shorts well...

Is Joe doing visits/fittings in Atlanta? Didn't think he was still making the rounds.
