I'm 10.5B on the Brannock with a low instep and narrow heel, and I wear a 9.5D in Leo with a 3/4 wool insert to make up some of the volume. The fit is roomy enough for thicker socks which is good. I'm hesitant to try shoes, but with the lacing height of a boot it works well.

@Waxed I like that black Brass boot but I love the black Ottawa! Here are mine after almost five years of wear and a fresh resole. Initially I wanted to send them to Brian the Bootmaker, but frankly it's almost the cost of the boots with a 3+ month wait. Local cobbler did pretty well... the half...

I intended to post a while back but time got away from me. Page 1000 seems like a great chance to make it happen. After almost four years in my black cxl leather sole Ottawas, I had been eyeing the British tan cap toes. When the Black Friday discount came along last November, I made my move...

@audog what is Heddels talking about re: hand-sewn vs not in those Ottawa articles? Was not aware of a difference in manufacturing with these.

My Ottawa toes wore like that pretty quickly, but so do my other leather sole shoes. I posted about it waaay back in the thread. I emailed with GS about it (including pics of other shoes I have) after some deliberation, I paid $20 for hard rubber (like a heel) toes with a local cobbler. He even...

I recently bought some 8" steel toe Thorogoods for my true work boots. 360 welt, made in USA, I like the hardware too. They do not have an all leather sole build-up but they could be rebuilt in a few years with a more traditional make-up. Role Club rebuild maybe? One can dream.

I really, really love that Kudu Ottawa. I don't think it's in the cards for me but I just had to say it out loud!

Nice! I get a quick wear at the toes from "springing" or pushing off when I walk. Had a similar situation and a local cobbler cut back the leather and stitched in some heel rubber at the toes. Not bad for $20. I think I posted it way back.

Did my first VSC brush-up a couple days ago, after maybe 8-10 wears. A close observer will note the sole wear at the toe. I've gently sanded and touched up with a polish. I have a pretty serious roll or push-off at the toe - the opposite of dragging - so I can wear down a toe pretty quickly...
