Vintage Ralph Lauren Canvas/leather suitcase

I acquired this suitcase at an estate sale and can find no information as to its age. One metal tag on the outside, and one leather tag inside identify it as Ralph Lauren Polo. The leather tag also says "made in Italy. It measures 26 long 17 wide 9.5 deep and is quite heavy, approximately 13 pounds. Signs of wear/usage are apparent, mostly on the leather, with one water stain on the inside, and light scuffing and a little light spotting on the canvas outside. The leather at the ends show the most wear All the brass tacks are intact. The leather straps inside are intact and clean as are the 2 storage compartments. There is no odor inside.
The lock is a mystery. I am venturing to say that the locking lever outside has been cut off, so there is no way, or key for that matter, to lock the suitcase. I have not attempted to clean or polish the leather.
