Sam Hober Six-Fold Forest Green Lightweight Macclesfield Wool Challis Tie 8cm

Sam Hober Six-Fold Forest Green Lightweight Macclesfield Wool Challis Tie 8cm

Being an enthusiast of green ties, I have a lot of them, and this one unfortunately is the odd man out. It is, nonetheless, a fantastic tie. This is tie is handmade by Sam Hober of a bright forest green wool challis. The construction is a very lightly lined six-fold, hand-stitched, untipped, and with hand-rolled edges. Some people call this seven-fold construction, counting the front of the tie as the seventh fold. Whatever you call it, it's a pure expression of the fabric without tags or keepers to weigh it down. It's lightweight, bouncy, drapes beautifully, but substantial. It's a three-season tie very much at home in both transitional and warm weather, suited to both casual and business dress. I've worn it both underneath a cutaway collar and a small buttondown collar, and it knots and presents beautifully for both. It's rare to find a wool tie that does all this (read: a tie that won't wrinkle) and one in a vibrant shade of green, arguably the most versatile tie color. There's also a wonderful woven texture up close, so it's not boring on any level. A great one, overall. Worn 4-5 times. Stored on a cedar tie rack in a cedar and lavender lined closet in a smoke-free, pet-free home. It's tough for a phone to get a color accurate photo of this particular shade of green; the second photo is the closest. The last photo is there to show the hand stitching on the tip up close.
