Burberry Prorsum 2006 Slim Tailored Waistcoat in Dark Wine

Burberry Prorsum 2006 Slim Tailored Waistcoat in Dark Wine

IT 46 - 36 Chest - S: Can also fit an IT 44 - 34 Chest - XS.

Burberry Prorsum waistcoat from A/W 2006-2007. Sample in brand new condition without tags. Made in Italy.

A/W 2006-2007 was one of Christopher Bailey's first critically acclaimed menswear collections and one of our favourites. It was an impeccable demonstration of Bailey's flawless tailoring, subversively complemented by punk-inspired leather accessories and exaggerated splashes of colour. This sharply cut waistcoat is one of the collection's signature items and was prominently featured on the runway.

Waistcoats and formal pieces are rarely found in Christopher Bailey's collections for Burberry Prorsum, perhaps due to his preference for inherently casual styles. This hard to find piece offers a rare glimpse into this less explored aspect of his output. Despite its classic origins, it features a variety of interesting details that are quintessentially Prorsum. First of all, the fabric is a textured virgin wool/mohair blend with a subtly grained appearance. Its weave's combination of purple and blue threads results in a beautiful dark wine colour. The waistcoat's back is realised in dark sateen. The cut is extremely severe, with long darts on the front and back that give it a form-fitting contoured shape. The front is finished with two slanted welt pockets, while the back has an adjustable martingale with two buttons.

The attention to detail of this piece is phenomenal and its construction is on par with the finest tailoring. All edges on the front (closure, pocket welts and armpits) are finished with pick stitching that is done by hand to an extremely high standard. The buttons are made from genuine buffalo horn and are engraved with 'Burberry Prorsum'. The interior is fully lined in a smooth sateen with an elegant striped pattern. The lining is partly attached by hand.

A classic staple, this piece will add a sharp sartorial edge to any well put-together outfit. Pair it with the silk shirt from the same collection for high impact.
