Here we have a beautifully hand-knit Cowichan sweater, made in British Columbia, Canada. This one from Granted Sweater Company in Vancouver. Their production is both sustainable and ethical, and their experienced artisans can spend upwards of 25 hours knitting each piece with “pure new wool”, meaning it comes from naturally produced wool shorn from living sheep, not having been blended with any other fibres or recycled. They are so well made, you will be able to pass them down to your kids. Granted use their own original designs for all their pieces, and are quickly gaining attention from having their sweaters worn by public figures and celebrities. Their items are “as-available”, and many of their sweaters are one-off designs or collaborations. This sweater is no longer available, and may be one of only a handful.
This one is a beautiful winter green, with brown accents. The maple leaf is prominent on the front and back, so whether you’re from Canada and want to represent your home or you’re from anywhere else and you just love the design and colourway, this is your fall/winter/spring get-out-of-jail-free-card. It will keep you warm in colder months, but breathes enough to be worn when it’s almost t-shirt weather.
Most of their sweaters come with zippers, but this one has the nice touch of large wooden buttons stamped with maple leaves. The large collars are meant to easily be popped up to keep the neck warm in windy conditions.
This has only been tried on, never worn outside. Unfortunately too small for me and my wife (their sizing is unisex). It is a size XS, so please note measurements below, and keep in mind that the wool is quite forgiving, and stretches out if you are a bit wider.
Chest - 18.5”
