If you finally scored an invitation to meet with the president of your university's oldest gentlemen's club, then this guy showed up, gave you the best handshake of your life, and you sweat so bad he offered you his pocket square. Now brown is your favorite color.

black_umbrella Says:

"I teach at a university in a discipline known for dressing in khakis and short-sleeve dress shirts, so I try balancing the aesthetics of a coat and tie with the casualness of the typical faculty member. I maintain this wearing patterned sport coats and knit ties. This outfit was put together on a warm fall day, so I combined a darker color palette of blues, grays, and dark greens, but I was still comfortable when the temperature rose during the day."

If you're waiting in line at the bank to make a withdrawal and you saw the bank manager walking out with this guy, who's tucking a plate of solid gold into his breast pocket. No big deal, it's his payday.

upr_crust Says:

"The inspiration was my watch chain. I found it among the effects of my late father in 2004 while cleaning out his house. I never saw him wear the chain, and do not know whether it came from, but it stimulated the purchase of several three-piece suits, including the one pictured. The suit is from Brooks Bros., bought several years ago, and re-tailored for me due to an intentional weight loss."

If you're taking a walk through the park and saw a group of people sitting around a bench where this guy was giving a free seminar on the secret to happiness based off his self-published book, "Cross Your Legs Like A Man: How To Properly Sport A Turtleneck."

RJE Says:

"I started wearing turtlenecks a bit more after seeing an ad showing a model wearing a velvet jacket with a turtleneck sweater. Then I read, 'George was wearing... a beige glen plaid suit and a blue polo neck sweater,' from The Second Cigarette by Patricia Highsmith, and experimented from there - although with a beige suit, a white turtleneck sounds much more fun."

Brand Breakdown:

“I tend not to mention brands (although many will have recognised the EG for KG navy suede brogues): brands tend to focus people on replicating an outfit, rather than thinking about the ideas within an outfit.”

If you randomly bumped into George Clooney, panicked, and asked if he wanted to make an Ocean's Fourteen movie, and then this guy walked by and Clooney immediately offered him a starring role. There's no script.

timotune Says:

"I use tumblr a lot, although the quality there has decreased dramatically. The Gentlemen of ‘The Armory’ and some Korean sites constantly deliver great outfits and a lot of inspiration. PhatGuido (mostexerent.tumblr.com), before his change to ‘street fashion,’ is my all time role model. His Patrick Johnson suits just fit him perfectly."
