    Hello,

My new jacket arrived today. Purchased online, so no fitting. I am a 42L and this is a 42. Do you think it fits? Does it look good? What would you wear with it? Going to the theater Friday, usually wear a suit. Would like to change it a little.

Thank you in advance for your comments!

The shoulders look a little wide on you, but the length looks fine.

to my rather un-professional eye, everything looks good except the shoulders.

The pointy-ness tells me that the shoulders are too wide.

Can that be fixed? I assume that means they need to move in on the end. To tell you how much I know I thought the were too narrow.

Do you normally stand like that? It looks like you're really stiff.

From what I understand, alterations to the shoulders are doable, but can be costly and performed by a very experienced tailor. If there's one area you want to fit just right, it's the shoulders.

Is that a Ralph Lauren Black Label jacket?

Man hamish, that's harsh, bad day?

I don't quite understand the "fake wiskers" comment.

The jeans are the casual jeans I wore all day, I was really seeking input on the jacket.

the jacket length is too short.
the left shoulder looks low, unless you are standing crooked.

Jacket is too short. You need a ??L. The shoulders are over stuffed. I don't know enough about these things to say if the shoulder problem is the cut or size or both. If you didn't have doubts, you wouldn't have posted these pictures. Bag it and move on.

I'd wear that length with jeans. I'd even say the length is pretty spot on for that use. See the Denim 101 thread for other examples. The cut looks like other Phillipa K jackets I've seen, ie. very sharp extended shoulders, and seems to work very well from the front and side shots (nobody else seems to agree with me [IMG]). However from the back, the pulling under the arms makes it look a little tight in the chest area, and shoulders look a bit off. Maybe it's a bad match of posture and cut?

Shoulders seem off. The length is fine for a more casual look but if you were wearing it with odd trousers it would be too short. If you are a 42 L why did you go with the 42 R? Was it so you could achieve the shorter length look?

Stick around for a while and soon you will understand.
