Measure your best fitting shirt then ask the retailer for measurements for the shirt you want. It should get you close.

Yeah, size oxfords down. They're really slim this season, however.

Thanks all. And yeh I have no fucking clue how to measure tops. Pants, yeah I have no problems. But measuring shit like pit to pit and neck to sleeve and whatever... I go an measure something and then when I try and compare it I am NOWHERE NEAR what they say. Like I'll measure something at 33" and they will measure it at 22".

Realistically, the only measurement that really matters is the shoulders. And luckily for me, the W+H oxfords this year are a perfect fit in that department.

I respectfully disagree. Sleeve length and neck size are critical. So are pit-to-pit, waist, and body length. Sleeve and cuff width is also pretty important. Some of these can be fixed at the tailor's, but I don't see much point in spending $150 - 200 on a standard shirt, then throwing more money into fixing the fit.

Even allowing for preferences, no shirt offered in 4-5 sizes will fit as well as good mtm. Fabric, styling, and exclusivity all figure into the price, but none of those will make a shirt fit "better"

I would say arms too..I've had dress shirts that fit shoulders but we're too tight on arms. Very uncomfortable.

So does W&H generally run true to size on their outerwear? Or slim like their shirts.
I was looking at a fall puffer jacket but XL seems like it'd be a size to big even though it's filled and I'm generally a large in most other brands, what you guys think?

Gravitypope and Nomad have it in the oxblood/black colourblock. I might drop by Gravitypope this weekend; they sometimes have more stock in-store than online, so I can check for you.

el Bert, I find their shirting tends to be consistent with their outerwear. I'm a consistent S in their tees, henleys, hoodies, sweatshirts, but I'm between a S and XS in their shirting and outerwear, mostly because they tend to cut them more generously at the armholes and waist.

Hey does anyone know if Nomad is doing that "Friends and Family discount" weekend in a week or two? I remember last year they did that sale either the second or third weekend of November. They had 20% off F/W season stuff online and in store.

Has anybody picked up the tweed chinos?
Are they soft? Warm? Size the same as regular chinos? Does the tweed have any more/less stretch than the normal chinos?

I have the darker charcoal ones, and I love them. I went with my usual westpoint size, and they fit just fine. They're not soft as you would expect tweed dress pants to be, due to the cotton/poly/acrylic blend instead of wool. They are more "rigid" like the regular chinos, which I prefer. There's no noticeable stretch that I've noticed.

    Thanks man.
That's what I was worried about with the softness (acrylic blend). As long as they're not scratchy/itchy though, then that's fine.
I'm gonna place an order next week so hopefully they still have stock by then.

I sized down one for my charcoal tweed west points. Think I like the grey better, but the didn't have the 30 in stock.

After 2 weeks of owning one of the FW 2013 hoodies (non-zip) and one wash, there is a hole by the seam underneath the armpit. Pretty disappointing.
