    Are you guys nuts?

Tieless OCBD looks great under a sportcoat or blazer.

I will fight over this. What is more, I will beat you all. Except pB - he knows karate. Him I can outrun.

I don't wear it, as I view it as a missed opportunity to wear a tie (probably a knit), but I definitely think it's a good look.

For me, this comes down to the trousers. You don't really wear cotton trousers or jeans, if I recall correctly, but I think that's where tieless BD shirts with jackets find their niche.

Also, it's a rare non-BD collar that sits well under a sweater.

Tieless BDs even work with flannels, or donegal trousers, etc. Gun check or glen plaid sport coats look great with simple OCBDs. I'm not sure if I like the look of jeans with a sport coat that has any type of structure to it. I think jeans look best with a deconstructed sport coat with a very soft, almost rumpled appearance. Sort of like the stuff that Eidos / Brunello / Isaia showcase for their collections. I'd love to see somebody post an example of the latter to change my mind though.

SC with tieless BD is great.

Sorry, but 99% of the time, SC with jeans is awful. I think I've only seen Vox, tchoy, and slewfoot wear it well on this board. And I've seen it worn well zero times in real life.

I wear sport coats with jeans, but agree the SC has to be casual.

Its about as staple a combo as there is. All deniers should be exiled from owning nice clothing.

I have pretty much always hated it with a passion. Then this happened....

I've worn jeans and tweed or corduroy sport coats or blue blazers with OCBD's since 1967, with and without a tie. It was a very common preppy/Ivy thing to do in that era. So, it was fun for me to meet Ralph Lauren and Andy Warhol in NYC in the 70's wearing the same look (especially when most other were wearing polyester leisure suits). Ralph with tweed and Andy with BB blue blazers and 501's. If you don't care for it, that's fine. But the look has quite a legacy.

I think the issue is, PSG, that most people that are seen strolling around in SCs and jeans, are not by any stretch, RL or AW. Or PSG for that matter. :)

Dare I suggest it often works best with a white OCBD?

I'll wait till someone foolishly disagrees and then tell you why.

If you iron your spread collar shirts they stay up just fine.

I know. That's something you've never heard before on StyFo. I'll give you a minute.

    I should add...

Focusing on the collars, not the general impression of gigoloishness.
